Everything happened so suddenly and yet so fast that Rey could hardly keep her thoughts straight. The thoughts that were her own in the first place that is. Images of a beautiful woman, herself laughing, and the pained expression of the man before her blew through her thoughts like a sandstorm, scattering particles of feelings, reactions, emotions, and sorrows. Rey thought she might collapse, there was so much entering her brain at once - like a lightning bolt striking across the sky.

“Stop…” she pleaded for a moment, but as her own childhood screams filled her ears once again she added her own scream and she flung herself away from Luke - away from those memories. “STOP!!”

And like a flash it was over. Rey collapsed to the ground, covering her heart with her hand as stinging, hot tears fell down her face. For several seconds it was all she could do to kneel there gasping for air and shaking so hard she thought she might be sick. And still the images wouldn’t leave her. Still she saw the woman’s face, the pain in her eyes as she died, and the agony she felt from both this man and herself as he flew away.

“D-Don’t…do that…again,” she panted, curling in on herself. That was all she could think to say. What else was there to say? It was all so much and so fast, Rey was just scrambling to come to grips with what she had seen. 

Luke watched his daughter in pain and he immediately regretted his decision to show her all that he had. But it’s not like he had much other choice, she had to know the truth. 

“I’m sorry...” Luke whispered, kneeling down beside her and putting a hand on her shoulder. “What I did, I did out of love. I didn’t have any other option than to give you up. I feared that if you stayed with me, the First Order would find you no matter how far we traveled. I couldn’t lose you like I lost your mother.” He explained with a shaky voice.

There was a flash of light and heat and Rey saw the lightsaber ignited before her very eyes. And then she heard that word - that magical word she had been longing to hear all of her life. Daughter. 

She didn’t even hear the sound of Luke’s command. All she heard was the sound of her own tiny voice calling out into the sky as a ship vanished - carrying with it the only person left in the Galaxy who loved her.

“COME BACK!” she sobbed as Unkar Plutt tightened his grip on her tiny arm. “NOOO!”

Rey could barely catch her breath before she realized Luke had turned back towards her and spoken to her. She took a step back from him, staggering as though his words had sent a mighty blow to her. Her head snapped back and forth, as if shaking would keep her from falling into this trap. “Don’t-!” she began, and something very deep in her chest began to hurt. “No…No you’re lying…You can’t be- I can’t…You’ve got the wrong girl. Luke, you are not my father.”

Luke was expecting this kind of reaction, so he was prepared for it, but he wasn’t prepared for the sheer hurt it would cause him to be rejected.

“Why would I lie to you? Why would I have the need to lie to you if it wasn’t the truth?” Luke said, knowing the only way he could truly show her he wasn’t lying was by using the Force. He stepped closer to her and took her hand, not caring if she struggled against him as he showed her the truth.

“She’s so beautiful, Luke...” Rose murmured and Luke smiled, stroking his infant daughter’s face.

“She looks like you.” He replied, kissing the baby on her forehead, “I love you Rey... I’m so happy you’re finally here...”

“Daddy, daddy, watch this!” Rey shouted as she used the Force to throw a ball to her mother across the room.

“Well done Rey! You’ve been practicing haven’t you?” Luke asked and the 3 year old nodded. Rose ran to her daughter and scooped her into her arms, kissing her cheek and holding her close.

“She’s got your strength.” Rose commented.

“I sure hope she does, given what’s going on with the remnants of the Empire heating up once again.”

“And that’s why you’re going to teach her all you know. And i’ll teach her what you taught me.” Rose smirked, causing Luke to roll his eyes.

“Where is the girl? Supreme Leader Snoke requests her presence immediately.” A stormtrooper boomed but Luke and Rose ignited their lightsabers in response.

“If you think you’re getting anywhere near her, you’re surely mistaken.” Luke hissed as a barrage of stormtroppers invaded their home. Luke and Rose fought back, using their abilities to slaughter those who tried to get past them. Rey was hiding away in her room, staying in a safe place as her parents had told her to do. However, a tie fighter that had been circling the house broke through the window into Rey’s room, causing her to scream.

“REY!!” Rose shouted, dropping her lightsaber as she ran to Rey’s room. A pair of stormtroopers exited the tie fighter and were heading for Rey but Rose tried to fight them off. Unfortunately, because she had dropped her lightsaber in her haste to get to her daughter, she was quickly overpowered. Luke rushed into the room at the exact moment a stormtrooper blasted a hole through Rose’s heart.

“NOOOOO!!!!!” Luke screamed at the top of his lungs, his entire world going dark for those few moments as he eliminated every last enemy in his home. Once the red haze in front of his eyes had finally cleared, the only thing that could be heard was the sobbing of his 5 year old daughter as she clutched her mother’s body.

“Where are we going daddy?” Rey asked but Luke didn’t respond. It killed him to do this, but it was the only thing he could do to ensure her safety. He wiped away the tears staining his cheeks as they landed on the surface of Jakku. Unkar Plutt was waiting for them at the Jakku Outpost as Luke took Rey to him. 

“Daddy? What’s going on? I’m scared...” Rey murmured but Luke knelt down in front of her.

“Everything’s going to be ok, I promise. You’re going to be safe here... Unkar Plutt will take care of you until I can come back for you... But you won’t remember me. Just know that I love you, my precious Rey... I love you so much...” Luke kissed her forehead and held her close for a moment before waving his hand in front of her face.

“You do not remember your parents. You do not remember you have The Force. You do not remember much of your life before now. Just know that your parents love you very very much...” Luke Mind Tricked his own daughter to keep her safe from The First Order. It was all he could do so they couldn’t track her. He then turned around and headed back to the ship, hearing Rey’s cries getting louder and louder.

“COME BACK!!!!” She screeched as Luke took off in his ship, “NOOOOO!!!!!”

Luke then pulled from her mind with a heavy sigh, tears staining his cheeks as emotions rushed him. 

“I told you I wasn’t lying...”

His words echoed through her thoughts, challenging every last little notion she had about how and why… But no - that was still impossible! He was far too young! But…yet he said he traveled through time… Rey was about to turn around and tell him that he was obviously drunk on liqour or spice because there was no way that someone could travel through time. But then he revealed his name.

“Luke Skywalker?” Rey demanded, turning around to face him, her eyes as wide as the sun above her. “That’s…impossible. He’s a myth!”

Was any of this possible? Or had Rey dreamed it all? Could he truly be…?

“Hey!” a low voice growled.

Rey rolled her eyes as she slowly turned to see three figures moving towards her. One - their leader - was human like her, a local thug by the name of Asher, and behind him was a Twi’lek who looked like he had more muscles than brains, and the other was a tall and absolutely menacing looking cyborg whose red eyes glowered at Rey.

“You’ve been scavenging on our turf, little girl,” Asher sneered. “Everyone knows the Imperial remains are for me and mine.”

“You’re delusional,” Rey growled in return, reaching for her staff. “No one can lay claim to a ruin!”

“Oh but they can - and I have,” Asher corrected as he stepped closer to Rey, his eyes greedily looking her up and down. “You could have avoided this problem if you’d only said yes to my little proposition.”

“I would have soon be stuck in a batha’s stomach!” Rey snapped.

“Seeing as that’s your answer - we’ll be taking your portions. Might leave you with a scrap. It’s only fair, Rey.”

Dammit. Rey did not wait for the man beside her to speak - instead she lunged forward with a yell of fury as she jabbed Asher in his stomach with her staff. His goons suddenly leaped forward - each with cruel intent in their eyes.

Luke couldn’t help but laugh at her disbelief. So, at this point in time, he had become a legend and a myth. Well that shows him just how his story plays out in the future. However, he was about to reply when he was cut off by some strangers. 

And the second they spoke the girl’s name, Luke felt sick to his stomach.

That was when he felt his grasp on the Force come back and he immediately realized the obvious. This girl whom he had been talking to was his baby girl Rey all grown up. It made him feel absolutely horrible. However, he didn’t even have time to think for the others started attacking her. Luke instantly started fighting back, throwing the assailants backwards with the Force. He grabbed his lightsaber from its holster and activated it, threatening the three of them with it.

“If any of you so much as think about touching my daughter again, I promise it will not end well for you.” He snarled, keeping his lightsaber raised before he started Jedi Mind Tricking them, “She has not been scavenging on your turf. In fact, you’ve never seen this girl before. You will turn around and walk away and forget this all happened.” Luke said and the three of them repeated what he said in a robotic tone before turning and leaving them alone. He then faced his daughter with awe in his eyes, shaking his head.

“Rey... God, I had no idea this is what happened to you.... I’m so sorry...” He murmured, heartbreak clear in his voice.
