@Nxmxgoldxx: Hey FXWRK, How's it going?

   @FXWRK:

Sorry, I was filming for a video all day long yesterday

.

  @NXMXGOLDXX:

Was so stoked to have you.

What did you think of SubspaceNY?

  @FXWRK:

I thought Subspace was weird and fun.

  @Nxmxgoldxx:

  What genre music do you prefer spinning?

How long have you been a DJ?

@FXWRK:

I prefer spinning my own music to be honest. I don't call myself a DJ.

I don’t call myself a DJ since I really lack that skill set, not very good at it. It’s so different from production and I’m still on a learning curve with it. I started right around the time I released my first Ep though, so a year and a half.

(Continued) but when I am DJ in anything bassy. Future-Bass I guess is what we're calling that genre. Of like, enlightened trap music. Um. I love mainstream and underground ratchet trap shit. Dope bassy remixes from the shadowy corners of sound cloud, along with more big name producers. Who influence me, getting into juke, always loved Baltimore and jersey and New Orleans club shit too. Anything trill.

  @Nxmxgoldxx:

What’s your favorite record?

@FXWRK:

Um Soulection and night slugs are my shit, anything from them. I dunno. Favorites are hard. Favorite album is 'Songs In The Key of Life'. Stevie Wonder.

@Nxmxgoldxx:

Any shows coming up?

  @FXWRK:

I’m playing at the first annual women beatmakers conference (afterparty) the 20th!
Only ladies on deck, including plenty of super legit DJ's/producers, it will be poppin, mad excited. Tryna get the word out a lot in the next week, its happening December 20th - In Bushwick (at a dope art gallery space)

@nxmxgoldxx: Any NEW MUSIC RELEASES you would like to disclose to the readers?

@FXWRK:

I have two full projects out/available online.

First, self-title EP came out Halloween of 2013.

Second, a longer more ambitious concept project, The Oracl, is only available on bandcamp, I asked for donations for that one.

The few other songs are out on my SC.

I just deleted half of it actually…

I know they'd be getting way more plays if I was connected to a label or just actually busted my ass doing promotion/marketing/networking.

Been at 1.5 years and I'm approaching 1K followers without doing much promotion tbh.

So, once I get in a groove and really start expanding & getting more attention, I will repost and seek way more listens at a faster rate. Trying to be strategic since I'm at a point of being very confident in my music being dope.

I'm about to release a BANGER today actually, look out for that shit!

A collab w a producer from Mexico, we've mostly communicated in Spanish this whole time which I think is cool

@Nxmxgoldxx:

What was the last thing you released / what are your most recent releases?

@FXWRK:

The last release is called ADHD; it’s a 1-minute snippet from an upcoming album in 2015.

  @Nxmxgoldxx:

What were you saying about a video yesterday?

  @FXWRK:

The video goes with the song ‘DOUBT', which is also on SC. The video was shot yesterday.

@Nxmxgoldxx:

Can we expect to see you back again

?

  @Nxmxgoldxx:

You’re originally from Harlem?

@FXWRK:

I'm originally from Brooklyn not Harlem.

  @Nxmxgoldxx:

Thanks for taking the time to sit down with us, any last words for your audience?

Q : Not the first time I have heard that name, but this was your first live performance correct, at subspace 11.29 ?

A: Yeah! It was dope as fuck I thought I'd be hella nervous but it was actually really cool.

Q: Was popping-your-performance-artist-cherry, everything you thought it would be ?

A: It was the exact opposite. I figured I'd just forget all my words and studder a lot and get everyone to hate me but like, na, people were vibin and shit and that made me happy so like, everything felt really good.

Q: I recall you had a lot of your audience really feeling your music, there was a girl with a light-up hulahoop. You know her ?

A: No but the hula hoop was really cool. She's probably cool.

Q: So you consider yourself a ßeta boy, what does ßeta boys mean to you, and does your music revolve around that ?

A: That's a good question actually. I was literally just talking about how we define the group/movement exactly. The way I see it it's just the embracing of all the qualities and interests that are usually shamed and kept in the dark in current society. Bringing all the dark weird shit into light and desensitizing others to it and also helping others to connect to you if they were once ashamed. It's also just a bunch of broke niggas on the internet.

A: My music revolves around it more so now than it used to though. Talking about my anxiety and what I personally go through. Just like, general lame shit but people fuck with it which is cool.

A: I hope the movement spreads though.

Q: ßeta boys doesn't have a leader, but what exactly do you "do" within the group ?

A: I make music for one. But i try to spread the whole beta movement through my public facebook posts so people start digging it like, just posting extensively about my anxiety, fetishes, fantasies, just a whole bunch of shit I used to be really in the dark and afraid to talk about in the past but like, i wanna bring it up here so people can publicly identify with it as well and not be afraid of social stigma. It sounds cliche to just say the idea is to get people to "be themselves" but the reality is people are only telling you to "be yourself" as long as it doesn't conflict with the general social dogma. I'm saying don't even stop at morals just embrace as much as you can without like, going to jail.

Q: What is your favorite track that you have done ?

A: My favorite track I've done is probably "Starfish", it's probably the most honest thing i've ever released.

Q: Who/What are you listening to ?

A: As for what I'm listening to right now well... Drake, Death Grips, Bones, Father, Lauryn Hill, Mac Demarco

A: I guess I'm like a beta boys enthusiast or something. Hella people wanna join the group too asking me about what it is and shit but like, i'm not trying to recruit new niggas into the group itself i'm just tryna spread the message.

Q: Thanks for taking the time to chat with us, and especially for performing with, will you have any new material to show us soon ?

A: Yeah! I'm dropping a single sometime this month and doing a music video with some guys in beta boys its gonna be dope.

Q: Who ?

A: Hopefully Wolfe & Ziggy, anyone else in the NY area that wants to come along. I want it to be crazy af.

Thanks Again Tristan, Hope To Be Hearing More From You Soon !
