Emer'Iah: "Is that my shirt?"

Avatar

Giada looked up at the older female and nodded, standing in the shirt that looked like an oversize dress. The small girl started to waddle away to the kitchen where Gabe was making lunch, stuffing her thumb into her mouth as she did so.

Avatar

Emer’Iah watched as the small girl walked away, wondering if she should take the shirt back. Giada did look cute in one of her shirts. The ginger sighed and got to her feet. “Giada, wouldn’t you be more comfortable in one of those dresses I brought over for you yesterday?”

Giada looked back over at the ginger, blinking her green eyes slowly. A dress? She looked over in the direction of her room , and then back to the older woman, before pulling out her thumb, “Baba?”

The ginger woman chuckled, bending over and picking up the child. "Let's go get you wearing one of those pretty pink dresses," Emer'Iah kissed Giada's cheek, taking her to her bedroom.

As the alarm blared, Salma groaned in protest and wrapped her arms Emmet's torso. It was quite too chilly in New York and with Cornelius snuggled in the middle of them, she didn't want to him go.

Avatar

Emmet heard the alarm and he wasn’t in the mood to get up to go to work. He wanted to stay home with his family. When Salma wrapped her arms around him, chuckled. “Salma…I have to get up now,”

Avatar

"I try," she smiled and kissed him back before returning her attention to Cornelius eating a piece of bacon. "And I’d appreciate that, I don’t like when you’re out in the snow so late,"

"And I won't," Emmet said, finishing up his breakfast. Emmet took his plate to the sink. "I'll go get ready now...," he gave her another kiss and went off to the bedroom to get dressed.

"No…it’s a snow day and the schools are closed," Salma murmured. "Call in sick, hun…"

"Just because the schools are closed, doesn’t mean the police department is," Emmet said as he rolled to the edge of the bed, sitting up. He pulled at his messy locks. Emmet really needed a haircut.

Yawning, she sat up and rubbed her arms. “Well you’re right,” Salma sighed, getting out of bed. Slipping into her robe, she walked to his side of the bed. “I’ll go ahead and make you breakfast,” she smiled and kissed his cheek before moving to the kitchen. Feeling the warmth of his mother disappearing, it was then Cornelius began to fuss.

He smiled as Salma left, turning his attention to the blonde child that started to squirm. “Oh, hey there buddy,” Emmet reached over and picked up the boy, resting him against his chest. “Did we wake you?”

Cornelius snuggled into Emmet’s chest, sucking his thumb. It was far too cold for his standards.

Emmet rubbed the boys back, getting to his feet and carrying him into the kitchen where Salma was cooking. “Your son misses you,” he chuckled, holding Cornelius so he could see Salma.

"Aw, well I wasn’t going to be gone for good," Salma chuckled, continuing to scramble eggs. Cornelius gurgled and reached out to touch Emmet’s face.

"I don’t think he grasps that concept," Emmet said with a chuckle, smiling at Cornelius. He was in a better mood now at least. Emmet leaned forward and pressed his lips to Cornelius’ chubby cheek, blowing a raspberry.

To that, Cornelius squealed with laughter. As Salma set the table, she couldn’t help but smile as Cornelius wiggled in Emmet’s arms.

Emmet smiled and put Cornelius in his high chair, pushing his blonde locks out of his face. “I’m gonna miss you today,” he poked his son’s cheek, his smile staying strong.

"Baba," Cornelius smiled and clapped his hands together. Finishing up Emmet’s breakfast and coffee, she served him and moved to feed Cornelius and herself. "Enjoy," she chirped.

"You're the best, Salma," Emmet gave her a kiss and sat at the table to begin eating his wonderful breakfast. "I'll try to get off early...Before the snow and ice gets too bad,"

Emmet was having so much fun playing with Victoria. But, all the fun made him think about Cornelius; was he neglecting his other child? Emmet hoped that wasn't the case... He wanted to show both kids an equal amount of love.

Avatar

gingersiblingsNot that Cornelius would ever notice Emmet doing such a thing. He felt too awkward around his family’s affection and preferred to work on his latest inventions without a care in the world.

Avatar

Emmet picked up Victoria and went on a search for the blonde boy. He was probably in his room, as usual. Emmet settled Victoria in one arm and knocked on Cornelius’ door. “Cornelius? It’s me,”

"Hi me! I’m Cornelius," he giggled as opened the door. Looking up at Emmet, he smiled.

Emmet chuckled, kneeling down and ruffling the boy’s hair. “What are you doing in there? Working on another invention?” he asked with a smile.

He nodded his head, his smile growing even more. “Yeah, nothing new,” Cornelius shrugged, looking at Victoria suck on her knuckles.

"Can I come see it?" Emmet asked, fixing Victoria and wiping the saliva from her mouth.

He blushed and shook his head. “They’re not ready yet,” Cornelius rubbed his arm. Victoria giggled, wiggling in Emmet’s arms.

He blinked at the boy. “Really? I can’t just have a really quick peak?” Emmet asked, re-positioning Victoria again so he could hold her more properly.

He shook his head again. “It has to be perfect, daddy…no peaking,”

"I see," Emmet said, bouncing Victoria. "Well, why don't you take a break and come have a snack with Victoria?"

Gabe rushed around the house as he fastened the straps at the top of his harness, making sure that dinner was ready for his children. He hated when these calls come, but he had to go to work of short notice, though, he was happy that Emer'lah was open to help. "Thank you so much for doing this," he said walking towards her as he pulled on his jacket. " Dinner should be ready soon. You just need to cut the pasta for Giada or she would be there for an hour trying to eat those noddles."

Emer’Iah was more than happy to watch the children. They were really sweet and it would give her something to do since Emmet was with Salma. “Got it,” she smiled. “It’s not a problem, Gabe. I’m happy to do it,” Emer’Iah said with a smile, removing her own coat and putting it up on the coat rack. “Anything specific about the children I need to know?”

Hide and seek? That sounded a bit dangerous, but if it’s what they wanted to play, she wasn’t going to object. “Okay, don’t get into any hiding spot you won’t be able to get out of,” Emer’Iah smiled once the two were standing. She then covered her eyes. “1…..2…..3….,”

He nodded and placed Giada on the ground, pulling her up to her feat afterward. ” We will be careful.” Once Emer’lah began to count, he pulled his sister into his room, making sure she didn’t trip over the few toys in the floor. He giggled and walked to a small door that was covered by a curtain, opening it up and letting Giada go in first. Andrea picked up a teddy bear and a blanket, taking it with him before closing up the small door behind him.

"....8...9....10! Here I come," Emer'Iah uncovered her eyes, first looking in the living room for Giada and Andrea. No trace of them. She hummed and went off to look in the bedrooms. They weren't there either. They didn't leave the house, did they? Oh, she'd be in hot water if that was the case. Emer'Iah scratched her head as she walked down the hallway, now heading to Gabe's room. Hopefully she'd find them before going there, she didn't want to accidentally stumble upon something personal of his.

He though of her question, looking at Giada as he did so. “With Giada, some times she doesn’t tell you when she needs to go to the bathroom. Shes beginning to potty train, so she will start wanting to use the toilet instead. I have her in diapers just in case, but shes been throwing fits if it gets wet.” He chuckled lightly and patted his daughter, who was clinging to his leg, on the head. “You do’t have to worry too much about Andrea. Just make sure he doesn’t get in trouble.”

She nodded slowly as she headed Gabriel’s instructions on the little one. “Got it!” she giggled, bending down and picking up Giada. “You’ll stay with me while Daddy goes to work,” she kissed the girl’s head, smoothing out her hair.

"Good.." he gave a sigh of relief and watched her pick up his daughter. Gabe smiled and hugged both Emer’lah and Giada, giving a kiss to his daughter’s forehead before pulling away. He almost, out of pure habit, kissed Emer’lah on the cheek. It was something he always did with his wife when he had to leave, but he refrained from doing so with the ginger. "T-thanks again.." he said, then began to walk to the door, "Andrea, don’t give her a hard time, okay?" The small boy nodded then ran up to him, giving him a large hug. “Papa, hurt the Titans, okay?”  Gabe shucked and patted his head, “I will. I have go, okay?” With that he said bye again, before leaving the home.

She blushed softly when he almost kissed her, kind of wishing he did. No, don’t think like that! The man was widowed with two kids. He didn’t need to think like that. “You’re welcome…I’ll see you soon,” she waved as he left, moving to sit on the couch with Giada. “So, be honest with me, kids; do you like me?”

Giada whimpered lightly when her father left. Why did he always have to leave? As the older woman moved, the toddler hung onto her, frowning slightly.

Andrea followed Emer’lah and climbed on the couch next to her,” I do…” he said, picking up one of his toys that was laying next ho him. “You are fun to play with.” He ran the train across his lap, making noises to go along with it, a few Giada mimicked

"Oh, Giada, sweetie…He’ll be home soon," Emer’Iah hugged the girl as her eyes shifted to Andrea. She was quite happy to hear that. She always thought the children hated her. Emer’Iah felt her heart beat a mile a second. "Am I now? Well, is there something you two wanna play until dinner’s ready?" Emer’Iah asked, sitting Giada on the other side of her.

Andrea nodded his head, “You are.” He kicked his feet out as he though of a game for them to play, them smiled widely. “Hide and seek!” He shimmied off of the couch with his train, “Let’s play hide and seek. You can find me and my sister.” The small boy walked over to Giada and reached out to her, slowly taking her off of the couch.
