people will hear you talk about struggling with mental illness and say “you can do anything if you just put your mind to it”. brother what part of the body does the mental illness happen in. what do you think is the problem

I love going viral on tumblr.com. It’s like if you stood in a field and said some of the stupidest shit a human being is capable of and then like fifty thousand crows attacked you

Don’t do this to me

my brother in christ you made the post

I always thought it was like an exaggeration when horse people would talk about how silly it was for anyone to think that riding a horse does not require any particular level of skill or balance or anything, or even that they "drive themselves" (???) but just the tags on the reblogs of that "can you ride a bike and/or horse" post from me alone are demonstrating how overconfident some people are in their (often entirely theoretical!) ability to stay on an alive and moving animal with a will of its own.

like don't get me wrong, I've put young kids on horses & seen younger ride them entirely on their own.

but I've also watched grown-ass adults do things like back a horse straight into a bush because they couldn't follow basic instructions like "stop pulling back on the reins".

and those are just the horses I trust with 8 year olds.

I just think the "horses are scary idiots who eat fingers and break all their legs whenever they see a plastic bag" website was very quick to believe themselves to be the wayward city girl who trauma-bonded with the wild & troubled horse on her family's ranch & won the race & saved the farm all before summer break ended.

is all.

yes Anna May I'm sure riding a horse is much easier than riding a bike. those idiot country folk just don't know what they're talking about. your bond with Serendipity will be strong & you will overcome his troubled heart with the power of fresh apples and transcendant horse empathy.

theoretically, of course.

unfortunately I am beginning to understand why horse girls are so defensive about riding being a "sport".

As someone with fairly little riding experience, I would say I'm 100% confident in my ability to mount an already saddled (i'm fine with western or english style) horse and walk slowly around a small open area for a while, provided the horse is very chill. I'm about 50% confident in my ability to remember how riding tack works and 0% confident about driving tack, unless I've got a detailed written guide in front of me. And at most 5% sure I could handle even a short and easy trail ride with a calm and friendly horse without running into problems unless I had someone more experienced with me the whole time.

And I literally used to work on a horse farm.

many of you weren't on the internet in the days before voice chat, before youtube, and don't know what it was like to hear someone roll the dice on pronouncing 'meme' out loud in real life. I heard mem. I heard mee-mee. I heard maim. I heard may-may. you weren't there you don't understand.

also what is with people tossing out support for nonbinary people when the nonbinary person is a celebrity. as soon as demi lovato changed their pronouns from they/them to they/she everyone, including supposed allies of the community, IMMEDIATELY dropped the “they” part of “they/she” and started referring to them as a woman again. then when “unholy” by sam smith and kim petras won a grammy people talked about how kim petras (just her) made trans history by being the first trans person to win a grammy. and yes this is something to be celebrated, but is sam smith not also trans by virtue of being nonbinary? did they not also make history? or do you not see them as nonbinary because they’re amab and not feminine enough to cross the man threshold for you? and yes nonbinary celebrities are not going to see you referring to them as if they were cis but your trans acquaintances sure as fuck are
