I’m building a career as big as humanly possible so I can be in a ‘Star Wars’ project. My life goal is to have a character in the ‘Star Wars’ universe, film or other media. I just want to go to my grave knowing I played some character or some character based on my likeness was part of that world.

What kills me about Furiosa telling Max the code to start the rig is that just a few minutes previously that’s the ONLY thing that kept Max from leaving them in the dust to their fate in his panic to escape. Yet Furiosa makes a decision to give Max the code and give him the power to completely screw them over if he wanted to. But he doesn’t because Furiosa reads him correctly and in giving him that level of power back actually causes him to calm down since he knows someone just gave him a huge amount of responsibility in something he’s not even really sure what’s going on about, but this person is treating him like a human and acting like he’s part of the team and Max is so obviously taken off guard that he doesn’t even question it and is just like “yes ma’am” and starts helping her. Yes Furiosa is a bad ass, but her brilliance in this moment isn’t beating the crap out of Max or outwitting him or forcing him to do anything, it’s realizing he’s acting like a trapped animal because he thinks he IS and she gives him an option to act like a human, which he does without hesitation. She doesn’t hold it against him that he just held them at gunpoint and Max in return just immediately throws his weight in with the group.

Furiosa ultimately accomplishes her goal partially because she makes a decision to treat a person who had been treated like a commodity (just like the wives) up to that point as a rational, functioning human.

I think it’s arguable that this is the entire point of the film: We Are Not Things. Not just women, but all human beings. Immortan Joe only sees commodities, not people: women for milk or heirs, men for battle to protect his empire. For crying out loud, the entrance to the Wives’ living area is a bank vault door!

But the Wives and the Vuvalini refuse to treat anyone as an object. They may be forced to kill, but they won’t do so needlessly. It struck me that Joe announces Furiosa by her titles, her symbols of power, but she announces herself to the Vuvalini in terms of family: who she is, who her mother was, where they came from. Furiosa and Max are struggling to retain their humanity in a world that doesn’t seem to value it. Their way out is not escape, across teh sand flats, but redemption: going back to those who have been treated as objects, who have treated others as objects, and showing them a better way.

Dammit, this film gets better the more I think about it.

Wtf was he taking about Why all my favs gotta be problematic? Smh

He was accepting an award for the man who did the score for the Hateful Eight.

And he was like “I don’t want to call him just a movie score composer, that’s ghetto. I compare him to (then he named all these great musicians that I cant remember)”

And after he said it, Regina King’s face…..

he’s always been like this…

Seriously, he’s always been a piece of shit.

I need people to have a moment with themselves if they ever thought he was their fav. He basically makes movies just so he can have people say racial slurs.

- Forgetting literally everything from phone calls to visits to where you put your wallet(I just had it I swear )

- Needing 12 hours of sleep everyday but only in the middle of the day

- Void days

- “I’ll clean my room tomorrow” everyday

- eating everything or nothing

side effects of being numb due to mental illness:

  1. not crying for weeks and weeks on end til one day breaking down over something not actually worth getting upset for
  2. not being able to tell if your feelings for people are platonic or romantic or if you’re just lonely
  3. instead of caring too much not caring at all about anything
  4. not being able to process anything going on in your life and when you try your brain stalling out
  5. losing your train of thought every five seconds so when you try to have a conversation having to pause and remember what you were trying to say
  6. word vomiting
  7. mind ‘STATIC’

I love Imperator Furiosa, I love that her face is dirty and has no makeup and no hair and one arm and blood in her teeth and sand in her eyes. I love that she comes from a world of women and doesn’t understand the greed of men. I love that she risks everything to save herself but mostly to save 5 other women that are being held that she has no duty to other than the fact that they’re women too. I love that she’s reunited with her people and it’s just half a dozen old weathered grizzled women on motorcycles with seeds in their pockets and missing teeth. I love that to succeed she has to learn to trust Max when men have done nothing for her before but ruin her life. I love that she fights with her whole body and isn’t afraid to be ugly and shoots guns and cries when she’s sad and screams when she’s angry and doesn’t take shit from other people and I love Imperator Furiosa

why is there so little focus on transparent on tumblr? it’s so weird considering it’s absolutely the most insightful lgbtq-focused show (and the primary themes of the show are absolutely how each of the characters relates to their own gender and sexuality) that exists

honestly there are so many reasons to watch transparent and i want, no, i need to list a few of them_:

  • well first of all the lead character is an elderly woman who is just coming out to her family. you hardly get any trans representation on shows anyhow but how often do you see an elderly lady just coming out
  • the show is after an idea/written and mostly directed by jill soloway, who was inspired by her ‘’moppa’’ (the nickname the kids use instead of dad). her moppa came out somewhen in her 70 - 80s.
  • not only is jill the main writer/director/creator of transparent her younger sister faith is also a writer and the writers team also includes many other LGBTQ staff. yes that also means genderqueer. some even have tiny cameos on the show
  • and even though the lead character maura is played by a man the show has cast transgender women in supporting/key roles and most issues are addressed by them or they talk about certain issues. they’re wholesome characters as well and they are different and just im personally in love with all of them
  • like OP said the show’s primary themes are how the characters relate to their gender and sexuality. it’s absolutely beautiful. the show shows different queer relationships im awed
  • something else’s that just really amazing about transparent is its representation of Judaism. It is connected and grounded in the family and their lives. it’s not that common to see such a sober, realistic and respectful representation of Judaism on TV.
  • honestly you guys,,, the pictures are so nice too like the aesthetic is mindblowing. camera. use of semiotics. everything.

there are so many more reasons to watch but just of the top of my head!!!!
