Let’s not forget that “Jack of all trades, master of none” ends with “But better than a master of one.”

It means that being equally good/average at everything is much better than being perfect at one thing and sucking at everything else. So don’t worry if you’re not perfect at something you do! Being okay is better!

These made me feel better

Also, “great minds think alike” ends with “but fools rarely differ”

It goes to show that conformity isn’t always a good thing. And that just because more than one person has the same idea, doesn’t necessarily mean it’s a good idea.

what the fuck why haven’t i heard the full version to any of these

“Birds of a feather flock together” ends with “until the cat comes.”

It’s actually a warning about fair-weather friends, not an assessment of how complementary people are.

I’ve always felt like these were cut down on purpose.

I really like these phrases and plan on spreading this knowledge.

I want to make designs out of these.

Funny how all the half-finished ones encourage uniformity and upholding the status-quo, while the complete proverbs encourage like…living exciting, eclectic lives driven by choice and personal passion.

some thoughts on self objectification

this is a huge reason why lesbians can go years just not figuring out that they aren’t attracted to men. when your whole understanding of attraction is “objectifying yourself to the point that you understand intimacy as a performance to be the perfect sexual object for a man” then the question of who and what you desire isn’t even being asked- let alone answered.

This is pretty common. Women’s sexual fantasies (and gay men’s) are often about being an object of desire, rather than desiring someone else.

Research from the sexology journal, ‘Archives of Sexual Behavior’ found: ‘direct evidence that object of desire themes are linked more to women’s sexuality than they are to men’s.’

‘If a woman does perceive that she is an object of desire within her relationship, then her level of sexual desire and sexual activity may be fairly high. If, on the other hand, she does not feel a sense of her own desirability or being an object of desire, she may have very little sexual desire.’ [source]

Heterosexual men also included themselves as objects of desire in their fantasies, but to a lesser degree and it was not the key theme.

A truly healthy diet

  • doesn’t exclude foods
  • is made up of foods, not numbers
  • is varied and flexible
  • is not restrictive
  • allows you to trust your body
  • is not obsessive
  • doesn’t use food as a reward or punishment
  • doesn’t have to be “perfect”
  • allows you to live your life, but it is not your life
  • does not exclude any food group
  • consists of foods that make you feel energized and healthy
