Her lips, a summer’s first mint julep, beautiful and perfect, they breathed refreshing life that slipped past the tongue and into the heart.

Last week Budweiser posted the following Tweet, promoting it as a paid social advertisement on Twitter:

Nobody cheers for the guy who brings a watermelon wheat beer. #ThisBudsForYou

The brand managers at Bud might not have anticipated (but should’ve) that the ad would elicit a nearly unanymous backlash from Twitter users, many of whom were passionate about craft beer enough to call them out. Just look at a few (among hundreds) of the responses directly in reply to @Budweiser’s tweet in the screenshots above; and many quickly came to the conclusion the ad goes after a very specific, popular beer: “Hell or High Watermelon” by 21st Amendment Brewery.

Of course the tweet/ad was only the latest in a series of brand advertisements by Budweiser this year which go after “craft beer”, which also drew significant criticism for the best selling beer brand.  It goes the show the “King of Beers” has a long way to go in rivaling the loyalty that some craft breweries have earned.

This is hysterical.

FuckYeahBeer!

PS.  Your marketing team is as shitty as your beer.

I live in California where piss water Budweiser is only good for watering my thirsty plants. Even then I feel bad for making them drink it.
