This man taught me baseball. He was the voice of my childhood. When I left LA for college he became my connection to home. I paid for audio of the games, because I couldn’t afford the video broadcast. I had Vin and I had my Dodgers and that made being so far from home more manageable.
In grad school I was stressed and overwhelmed most of the time. PhD life is a struggle, but from March to October I had Vin and Dodger baseball. It didn’t matter how far away I was from home. Vin made me feel connected to my city.
I cried when he retired, but that was superficial compared to this. It truly feels like I lost a family member and in reality I did. He was in my family room as a kid. He was in my bedroom while I studied at OSU and UTEP. He was a legend and I know how incredibly lucky I was to listen to him for so many years.
RIP Vin.
mine would probs be: one direction, taylor swift, ed sheeran, the script and coldplay
No Doubt, RHCP, Blink 182, Garbage, Offspring
But I also listened to so much other music. I’l must be getting old because I remember college bands more than high school at this point.
Both were exceptional people, who bore an exceptional daughter.
