20 Questions for Fic Writers
the gorg @amidnight--dreary tagged me in a thing!!!!!
1. How many works do you have on ao3?
a very humble (16)
2. What’s your total ao3 word count?
317,783
3. What fandoms do you write for?
literally only frostiron.
Though I have been considering writing all kinds of x-men (cherik, storm related things, something about rogue...) and also something about Bella Baxter/Duncan Wedderburn from Poor Things (the characters were SO compelling). I also yearn to write something about Hoa from the Fifth Season but generally speaking....... its difficult/unbearable to read/write fanfic about books bc the author's voice is so very special.
4. Top five fics by kudos
- Threads, Celestial and All-Knowing (my first ever longfic!)
- Life with Anthony Stark (my current bby)
- Darling Prince (3 chapters of filth)
- What's Left Unsaid (my most pg-13 tear-jerker)
- My Mortal (smut one-shot)
5. Do you respond to comments?
I'm so bad at it sometimes and I'm super good at it other times. Every single comment literally makes me feel overjoyed but idk what it is about replying??? also if i'm behind on some comments, i tell myself i can't reply to newer ones since i have replied to older ones... and THAT can stretch for a while... then if I get the extreme compulsion to reply to one, i end up going back and replying to a bunch of others. Either way, I LOVE YOU IF YOU'VE EVER LEFT ME A COMMENT!
6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
honestly idk? maybe Bird in the Wind or The Order of Things. But they're not angsty endings -- just bittersweet maybe? I do love angsty endings but i find myself struggling to put my readers through that lol
7. What is the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
What is a "happy" ending, really? Is it they lived happily ever after in a perfect home where it never rained and they never had problems again? seems like a little bit of a boring ending to me. Idk. I think all my stories have "happy" endings, in their own ways. Maybe Threads has the happiest one if I HAD to choose one...
8. Do you get hate on fics?
honestly, no. I've had strongly worded "recommendations", and also strongly worded "i cant believe you'd write about this", but i dont consider them hate? i think they weren't too mean about it and they were just a little squeaked by something they personally did not enjoy.
9. Do you write smut?
i only have a single one-shot that isn't smut
10. Craziest crossover?
never done one
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
nope! thankfully
12. Have you ever had a fic translated?
noooooo :( so sad. anyone wanna translate one of my fics?
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?
nope... not sure how i'd go about that. seems hard to let go of the reins! I've had a lot of input from betas before, but the more plot input i got from them the more i felt the story stopped being "mine" and so learned to keep the input practical rather than creative. I know it really works for others, but for me... it just made me lose my way a little.
14. All time favorite ship?
Tony/Loki. I literally cannot do any other ship rn (even while considering others, i'm not reading/writing them)
15. What’s a wip you want to finish but doubt you ever will?
I don't have any in that state thankfully! There's a SINGLE story I impulse-posted in my early days, but I have no intention or interest in finishing it, so it doesn't qualify for this question lol
16. What are your writing strengths?
Uhm... that's a difficult one... I think my strength is the inner turmoil of characters. I think I also enjoy writing the same situation from different perspectives (often contradicting ones) and maybe my enjoyment of it means I can be skilled at it. But who knows? Our own self-view is always skewed.
17. What are your writing weaknesses?
Dialogue. Dialogue is the death of me. I struggle sooooo much... they all wanna talk how i talk and that's just all wrong. I get so panicked! I think the best dialogue I write is usually when I just throw myself at it without panicking first. Often, though, I'll rewrite dialogue scenes upwards of 5 times before they feel "right"...
18. Thoughts on dialogue in another language?
It can work! It can also be annoying. But I don't have a particular standpoint on it. I think it's ok to include it.
19. First fandom you wrote in?
TOKIO HOTEL! I was one of them gals, yes. I was completely absorbed by that fandom. I wrote shit fic tho, never finished it. My one-shots in spanish had a little more traction tho... good times.
20. Favorite fic you’ve written?
its an impossible question to answer! But i'd say it's a tie between
They all have GLARING mistakes and things I hate or major loopholes, but I love them so much. Sosososo much.

A woman went viral for being turned down for a next interview for a role, she asks the recruiter what she did wrong, the recruiter tells her they were “concerned about her lack of effort in her appearance.”
She explains she wore a freshly ironed blazer with a collared top. Her nails were painted a professional beige. She got a blowout for her hair, so a professional style. She had on subdued gold earrings.
The only thing she wasn’t wearing was makeup; she states she really doesn’t wear makeup, and only had chapstick on, as her skin is sensitive. Her lawyer mother has already explained she has no legal case against the company for any type of gender-based discrimination.
Just in case anyone wants to ask why feminists still refer to the “pink tax” or rail against more and more elaborate makeup trends being pushed on girls and women.
Women being punished socially for not wearing makeup is still a feminist issue.
guys i need you to realize that smoking ANYTHING will cause damage to your lungs. inhaling smoke is just inherently bad for you im sorry.
coming from a chronic weed smoker: YOU ARE NOT IMMUNE TO LUNG DAMAGE JUST BECAUSE IT ISNT NICOTINE!!!!!

For anyone who hasn't seen them before, Hidden Search Operators are handy tricks you can use when you're either searching or filtering AO3.
summary: string is a generic way of explaining that you can search AO3 for a specific word that appears in a summary. You can do this from the search bar in the header, from the Any Field box at the top of the Advanced Search form, or from the Search Within Results box at the bottom of the filter menu.
Examples:
- summary: Bruce
- summary: "Bruce Banner"
- summary: Bruce OR summary: Banner OR summary: Hulk
You need to put quotation marks around your search term if it is more than one word. The quotes make sure that the site searches for those two words together.
The other two operators listed work best in the Search Within Results box.
expected_number_of_chapters: 1 will return results where every fic has only 1 chapter currently posted.
You can use expected_number_of_chapters: -1 if you want results where every fic has more than 1 chapter currently posted.
otp:true will return results where there is only 1 relationship tag on the fic. If you want results where there are 2+ relationship tags (and no fics with only 1 relationship tag) then you can use otp:false
