Nearly two years ago, inspired by Robin Sloan’s “Fish”, we created Tapestry. The idea was simple: allow anyone to create amazing stories on a mobile device using progressive disclosure and a combination of images, GIFs, and, of course, text. We fell in love with the format.
Since that time, thousands of people created over fifteen thousand stories using Tapestry. These stories (yes, we read them all!) made us laugh, made us tear up and most of all, blew us away. Thanks to you, Tapestry became the place for an amazing group of people to share their stories with the world.
All of this makes today bittersweet. Today is the end of our chapter as a consumer product, but it’s the start of another, with Tapestry front and center as an innovative format in mobile advertising.
We’re taking all that we’ve learned in building Tapestry, including all of our inspiration from the stories you created, to pursue this. Today marks the first day of our new ambition. As sad as it is to say goodbye, we hope that you’re as excited as we are about where we’re headed.
If you didn’t get a chance to grab the links to your tapestries, send us an email at howdy@readtapestry.com . We’re keeping all of them active and available indefinitely.
Thanks for all of the memories,
Tapestry Team
