the people on tiktok filming a blob-like strawberry and saying it's a GMO one...fucking fake strawberry fans...they literally can grow naturally like this

it's just the strawberries growing together. do not speak lies of these beautiful freaks ever again

every time I find a strawberry like this i'm not hating. i'm happy because there's more strawberry to eat. unlike you

its called fasciation and it's a mutation that happens in plants all the time! it's perfectly natural, just a neat variation that comes from a wide array of genetic possibilities :)

Its so interesting that when people hear gmo they think its gotta look wrong but the real gmo plants are the ones that look perfect and plump everytime, that's the kinda thing they're selecting for

btw, selecting for traits is genetic modification. We've literally been doing it the entire time we've had agriculture. But now it has some scary name.

Good Reasons to be wary of SOME GMO plants: Allergy drift (Starlink soybeans have peanut genes and can trigger an allergic reaction in people with peanut allergies), Patent woes (We will sue any farmer whose crops have our designer genes even if they got them through wind pollination) and Unsound Field Praxis (We made this crop glyphosate resistant so we can drown the field in glyphosate because fuck the environment and fuck the workers who have to harvest this crop from farm to table)

Bad Reasons to be wary: Scary plant look weird.

hey it's probably a really good idea to download a copy of your Master Promissory Note since most of them stipulate that your loans are *specifically owed to the Department of Education* and if you intend to dispute the debt in the wake of the DoE dissolving that will be really good to have

log in and then go to My Documents and download a copy of it. i'm serious. if trump dissolves the DoE entirely it may make the debt uncollectable depending on exactly how they do it, and he's too stupid to listen to lawyers that tell him when he's breaking the law. worst case you have an extra PDF on your computer. best case your student loans go away because you signed a contract to pay DoE and no one else. go download a copy.

As a former librarian I'm actually required to remind you that many libraries that subscribe to Libby are opted into a program that lets you subscribe and access magazines for free with no wait

And that this is actually a really fun, low cost way to not only access news and larger cultural magazines, but also to get free patterns for many different crafts that you can screenshot if need be and that lower the financial barriers to entry for trying new things

From my experience working in both academic and public libraries, many libraries are use it or lose it funding-- I have to say this because a lot of patrons feel guilty for how much they use the library and how often they're using it funny enough, but the worst thing you can do for libraries is not try out new features and not use what's already given to you as much as possible.

The numbers that come as a result of your patronage are how most libraries justify their continued existence in times of financial hardship, which sucks but, go check out some magazines on Libby!

Okay so Enshrouded is legitimately filling all the gaps that were left in my enjoyment of Minecraft. Don't worry, it still has my heart. The thing about Enshrouded is that it takes the Minecraft concept and adds role specialization and rpg party dynamics on top and makes it so freaking satisfying to play as a party of two to four. Minecraft is fun in a group but damn, Enshrouded goes hard. I'm playing a Ranger right now in a party of three and I'm a little bit obsessed right now. We have our own combat specializations, but we have our own favorite tasks as well, which is something I love about Minecraft. I'm a hunter and a crafter, my partymates are builders and miners. We explore together, fight together, and share loot. I wouldn't say I'm good at games - I'm not. I don't have the free time or the equipment to game a ton. But I can play Enshrouded on my PC with basically the same controls I use for Minecraft - I'm already familiar with it so I didn't feel like an idiot getting started. This is a solo or co-op game with no plans for PVP (hallelujah). We get to go ham on scary monsters and save NPCs, befriend cats and dogs, raise goats and vegetables, search for shinier gear, yeet ourselves from buildings and cliffs as a means of travel, and tour a gorgeous (deadly) world. I can't help but liken it to Minecraft because it looks the way Minecraft always looked in my imagination, but it scratches an itch in the skill tree and specializations that I didn't know I had. I'll continue to play both because I love both and get different things out of them.

But still.
