Oliver ran down the long road, out of breath, clutching his side. The sounds of his pursuers made his heart pound harder. He had to escape. Reaching down with one hand, he activated his shoes and hurtled forward, feeling the energy beneath his skin rise up. A bright blue flash of light engulfed him, and he prayed he would land somewhere safe.  He tore through the other side of the rift, eyes widening as he hurtled straight into a wall, face first. When he hit the ground, a groan escaped him.

Namie had just finished cleaning the mess Izaya had left on his desk, the lazy bastard. She was bored and it was barely noon but at least she had finished cleaning the apartment and had some peace and quiet to herself with her boss being out.

                         She spoke too soon.

A loud roar filled the apartment and it made Namie’s head snap to behind her, shocked and confused by what was going on. There was a bright flash of blue that blinded her and then a loud bang. When the bright light died down and she could see again, what she saw in front of her was the apartment being a wreck and a teen kid in front of her.

Namie was confused. What the hell was all that? Where did this teenager come from? More importantly, why did he wreck the place and piss her off?

❝Who the hell are you? You better explain yourself or I’ll kill you!

She never did control her anger well when pushed off the deep end. It only took a few things to set her off. Talking poorly of her darling brother or herself, getting in her way, or fucking up her work.

And did this kid fuck up.

Oliver flinched when the woman began to shout, regretting the decision to jump already. Maybe it would have been better to stay where he was and risk Aiden getting hold of him.... “I-I’m Oliver.” He said slowly, shrinking back against the wall. “I’m sorry....” Blood was dripping from his side onto the floor, and his body was shaking from the jump. “I didn’t mean to make a- uh- a mess.”

“Nothing in particular.” He hummed, absentmindedly fiddling with his rings. “I don’t really stay in one place too long ever… I just sort of… Wander.”

“Wander huh,” Olivia began. “Do you see anything amazing or spectacular while you’ve wander?” She questioned then paused for a couple of seconds. “Am I asking to many questions? I feel like I’m asking to many.” She sheepishly grinned while rubbing the back of her neck.

Oliver nodded with a grin. “I’ve seen lots of amazing things, and I’ve met a lot of great people too! The world is a pretty big place.”

Olivia giggled a bit. “I’ll bet.” She smiled the looked up at the sky. “I think it would be amazing to travel around and see all sorts of wonderful things.” She muttered allowed.

“Maybe you can one day! What’s stopping you now?” Oliver turned to look at her, one eyebrow raised.

Olivia pointed to her club. “That is. I know I’m the owner but I need to make sure my kingdom doesn’t fall while I’m away.” She stated then sighed. “But I have to admit, I do need a break from working almost all night and throwing trouble out of my club.”

“Well then, why don’t you go somewhere just for a while?” Oliver asked. “Surely there must be something new you can see tonight? Something to break the cycle?”

Olivia thought for a moment before looking at the sky. “A trip to Tibet would be nice. But that’s more of a vacation during winter kinda thing.” She stated. “ Oh wait, there’s a café in town that’s only open at night and I’ve been meaning to check the place out.” She smiled.

“Well… would you like to go?” Oliver asked hesitantly. He was always eager to make new friends, and this girl seemed very nice.

Olivia happily nodded. “I’m sure no one will notice I’m gone. So lets get going shall we?” She smiled the walked in the direction of the café.

Oliver followed her, walking with a bounce in his step. “This is a pretty cool place.”

Icebreakers I

"Excuse me, but you’ve got a little something on your face there."
"Well... this is awkward."
"I guess this is the part where we shake hands and say 'nice to meet you', right?"
"I've seen you here before, but I guess I just never had the courage to say hello before."
"I'm so excited to finally meet you in person! I've always dreamed of this."
"Sorry, but, um... am I the only one confused here? Why hasn't anyone else showed up?"
"Watch out!"
"Am I dead? Are you an angel?"
"Okay, okay, listen. I miiiiight have had a little too much, and I miiight need someone to help me get home. You look trustworthy, so let's go."
"I'm sorry--please, can you help me?"
"I look forward to working with you."
"I look forward to serving you."
"Stay still! I'm trying to stop the bleeding!"
"I'm not trying to be nosy or anything, but... I've been seeing you here a lot lately, always by yourself. I just wanted to say, if you have anything on your mind, I'd listen."
"Um, I know you don't know me, but I think what you did back there was very brave."
"Some weather we're having, huh?"

Because of the way the lights were, Olivia noticed Oliver glow a faint blue as well as looking a little nervous. “You’re not from around here are you.” She asked. “Would you like to go somewhere more comfortable?”

Oliver smiled nervously, trying to fight down his glow. “That would be very nice, thank you.” There were so many people, and it was so loud here. The music was nice though.

Olivia smiled and lead Oliver out of the club and back outside onto the side walk. “There we go.” She smiled. “No large crowds or blasting music to shout over.” Olivia said.

Oliver took a deep breath, letting the quiet soothe him. “Thanks. Sorry if I interrupted whatever you were doing.” He took the time to look around and take note of where he was.

“It’s alright.” Olivia smiled. “I had just finished my set of music.” She stated then stretched a bit. “So what brings you here?” Olivia ask.

“Nothing in particular.” He hummed, absentmindedly fiddling with his rings. “I don’t really stay in one place too long ever… I just sort of… Wander.”

As the woman approaches, gun raised, he raises his good arm, a faint blue glow beginning to emanate from him as his heart rate picks up.  “Uh- my name is Oliver- I ran here.” He looks down to his arm, broken and bruised. “I just sort of- ended up here… Where is here?” He prayed she wouldn’t shoot him, not after he barely escaped the last encounter. He couldn’t get enough speed for another jump, not sitting like this. “Who are you?”

Suspicion did not die down despite the friendly tone and greeting. No. She couldn’t let her guard down here.

An eyebrow quirked at the teen.

Was his hand glowing blue? It was.

She focused on his answer. It was not one she was expecting and she was not sure if she liked it either.

❝You ran here? Really?                  How the hell does someone do that?

“It’s- hard to explain.. Maybe I can show you- just a little.” He reached up with his good arm, blue glow intensifying. Curling his fingers into makeshift claws, he swiped the air, leaving behind- for just a moment- tiny windows into another world. A bright one. The little holes faded, and he lowered his arm. The glow died down a bit.  “See?”

As the night progressed, the music blaring through the club and adrenalin rushing though the crowds system as the bass dropped, everyone was dancing or having a good time in the abandoned warehouse where the rave was going on. Olivia was up in the dj’s booth playing out song after song and remixing a few to make things more lively. Spot lights flashed on her for a moment before flowing over the dancing crowed.

Just outside, a bright flash of light appeared mid-air, quickly splitting into a rift; which Oliver jumped out of. He didn’t manage to stick the landing and ended up falling on his backside. Standing up, he dug in his bag and threw a small disc into the rift, which closed, leaving him standing outside the warehouse.  “What kind of place is this?” He asked aloud, before wandering into the rave

Olivia, having the best view of the club smiled when she saw someone new walk in. After she played a another song then let a different dj take over. She wandered down and through the crowed, making her way to the newest guest. “Hi.” She said over the loud music. “My names Olivia, and welcome to my empire of sound.” She beamed with pride for her club.

Oliver felt nervous amongst all the different people. It was hard to see straight with all the lights. He began to glow a faint blue, startled by the sudden appearance of the other person. “Oh- hello!” He replied. “I’m Oliver. It’s nice to meet you!” It was nice to see someone who wasn’t trying to hurt him for once.
