"Mom!" Hope called as she rushed over to Hayley, holding a tablet, "Look at what Dad's buying me."
Hayley looked down. Then she looked over to Klaus, irritated, "Why are you buying our daughter a sports car?"
"A small reward for bringing down the hollow."
"She seven!" Hayley said, "she can't drive."
"I'm almost eight," Hope reminded her.
"I'll be hiring a most trustworthy chauffeur," Klaus said. He beckoned his daughter over and ran a hand through her hair once she was in reaching distance. "I think Hope's more than earned a little independence."
"Elijah Mikaelson!" Hayley said, storming up the stairs, "I suggest you talk some sense into your brother before I strangle him!"
Hope leaned in closer to her father. "Do you think that was a little mean?"
Klaus huffed as he pulled his daughter into his lap. "If your mother can't be bothered to check the date, than she deserves to be fooled."
"Still..." Hope said.
Klaus kissed the top of her head. "Don't fret," he said as he grabbed the tablet and began to search for something. "Your Uncle Elijah will comfort her unwarranted distress."
Hope's eyes widened as he found what he was looking for. "That's the prettiest crown I've ever seen."
"I'm glad you think so," Klaus said as he added it to his shopping cart. Hope set her hands on her hips and tilted her head up. "Like you said, you have a birthday coming up."
Hope sighed. "You planning to buy me that car too, aren't you?"
"Of course not," Klaus said, "by the time your old enough to drive, it'll be horrifically out of date."
