My #1 advice for people moving out is to NOT buy nonstick cookware... not only is the lifespan of nonstick a MAXIMUM of 7 years (usually more like 2-5 years) but teflon, aka Polytetrafluoroethylene-- the plastic coating that makes the cookware nonstick, infuses microplastics into your food.
New cookware sets can cost hundreds of dollars so my advice is to look for 100% stainless steel cookware in thrift stores. Safer, cheaper, & instead of needing to replace every 2-7 years they can potentially last you the entire rest of your life AND they won't start shedding plastic into your food
I picked up a stainless steel pot & skillet at the thrift store yesterday for $25. In all likelihood they will last for at least a decade (but probably much longer) regardless of how long they were used before I picked them up.
The two nonstick casserole dishes I had to throw in the trash yesterday due to the Teflon coating peeling off costed $30 + tax and lasted less than 4 years.
#my plan to slowly replace all my nonstick garbage with secondhand stainless steel is coming along...#also its less than 4 years if i consider how long i kept using them due to not having money to replace#they should have gone in the trash at least a year ago...#i didnt even say in the main post but most of the companies who produce cookware...\#at least where i am.. like lagostina tfal etc... do business with israel#so by thrifting you are also not giving $ to companies who support an apartheid state
