Recognize this 7 Wonder? - The city of Chichén Itzá was one of the largest Mayan cities spanning over about 4 square miles in the Yucatan Peninsula. The remains still standing today have been dated back to around 600 A.D. to the 1200s. Just looking through these pictures, you can clearly note the intricacies of their stone carvings which still remain discernible. As if that wasn’t impressive enough, on some structures, we can still see remnants of the colors painted on walls! - The most recognizable structure, which is featured in the first picture, is known as El Castillo. This massive pyramid is actually a calendar! Each of the four sides has 91 steps, which… 91 steps * 4 sides + the temple platform equates to 365 days… crazy right?!
