“I know I was wrong, okay? I was a total bitch for what I did, I get it. How much longer are you going to punish me for it?”

As he let go of her face, she felt the urge to either paralyze him or kill him, but she slowly decided against it. “Everything does revolve around me because one way or another I get what I want.”

She tried to smirk and act as if he had not gotten the best of her. Instead she smiled with tears in her eyes.

“Guess I know where we stand”

"No, you don't. Because we have children on the way and you just told me the you'd be stuck with me if you married me. You're already damaged goods to every guy here because you're pregnant. You did that one to yourself. So neither of us know where we stand because you and I are on different pages."

She looked him in the eyes and wanted to cry. She didn’t mean it how it sounded but she couldn’t take it back now.

“I didn’t mean stuck like that….. I-I–I’m sorry Draco. I’m really sorry” she said in a voice so low wasn’t even sure if he could hear her. She hung her head low and held back tears as she sniffed.

“Sorry.” She cleared her throat as she adjusted her head up and wiped her nose. “Hormones”

He stepped closer to her and gently placed his hand on her stomach. As soon as his fingertips touched her belly, he immediately felt the dancing of 2 sets of feet kicking rapidly. It brought tears to his eyes but he didn’t want to show his weakness to Artemis, no matter how much he loved her. He looked up into her gray eyes and swallowed his emotions.

“Must be painful to carry two kids like that. You’re…er..getting bigger by the moment it seems” he awkwardly backed away and looked at her and tried to suppress a smile.

“But I do.” Draco said in an audible whisper. “You know I love you, I asked you to marry me and then you just left after saying yes. You gave me no warning, no letter, nothing. How can I just…trust you again”

She sighed and turned back around and hung her head low. “I freaked out, okay? Everything was going way too fast…and I totally bailed… I could barely handle being pregnant and then stuck to someone for the rest of my life? It was way too much. If you don’t want to trust me, fine I get it. I just want to repair what can be repaired and move forward. If that’s together, great. If not, fine.”

“Stuck?” He thought to himself over and over as he listen to her excuses of running. “STUCK?! If that’s not a load of rubbish I have ever heard come from your mouth, I don’t know what is!” He stepped closer to her and got close to her face “If you felt so ‘stuck’ then you should have never said yes.”

Artemis couldn’t help but let the tears finally fall down her face. She knew it couldn’t be just pregnancy hormones but the fact that her feelings were sincerely hurt.

“You coward” she mumbled. “Face me! Say that rubbish to my face!” She reached out to grab him and try to physically turn him around herself but pulled back from doing so because she didn’t think it would matter. “You don’t mean that… please tell me you don’t mean that!” Her voice continued to break and she tried not to cry harder.

Artemis paused before she could speak. She didn’t mean to call him a coward but at the same time, she had no choice.

“You promised me that you would stay. Why would you lie to me?” She wanted him to face her and see the hurt in her eyes. She put her hand on her stomach to feel two pairs of feet fluttering away as she tried to not fall on her knees and cry. She wanted to kick and scream and give up, because it seemed like he was. “Why lie Draco? If you weren’t ready, then just tell me.”

“I didn’t lie!” He abruptly turned around and regretted his decision as he saw her face. He had a million of things he wanted to say because he didn’t want her to have this poor image of him in her mind but he was too scared of what may happen if he did. He noticed that she was hold her belly which seem to be being getting bigger by the minute.

“Can I… Can I feel the babies?”

She hesitated as she looked at him but reluctantly moved her hand away to allow him the chance to feel his children. She couldn’t help but think that if she let him feel the babies, he may change his stance by not trying to ice her out so easily. She put a lot of faith into this one touch, but she was willing to try anything at this moment.

“They start kicking a lot more when I’m around you. Maybe it’s because of me…but I’d like to say it’s you.“She sighed and tried to smile.

“What do you want, Artenis?”

“Only wanted a kiss” She leaned in to try and kiss her former lover.

He looked at her as if she lost her mind and begun to chuckle as he stepped back, rejecting her. “You think I care to make up after you left me?”

“Left you?! Don’t make me laugh. What choice did you give me? After the way you treated me, I had to do stepped away before I did something I regretted.” She scoffed as her eyes turned red from anger. “Yet I’m supposed to marry you one day, and you can’t seem to understand that you hurt me.”

Draco looked at Artemis with a look of disgust and rolled his eyes at her. “You sure you still want to marry me? Since I supposedly ‘hurt you’ and invoke the anger in you that you feel the need to cause pain.” He shrugged it off with a laugh. “I don’t have time for silly games with a silly little girl. See you around, Miss. DuBaer.”

“Wait!” 

Her voice quivered as she tried to speak more words but if she let him walk away, she knew she would regret it.

“Please don’t go. Can we talk about this?”

"I'd rather not. I have more important things to worry about than the inconsistencies of little girl. Honestly, do you not have pride in who you are? You are standing here crying over an already broken relationship that could never be saved. So what if we're having children together, I want nothing to do with you. "

He started to turn around to face her but couldn't bare to see her face as he broke her heart. There was nothing he could do for her or their future children; he could barely take care of himself. It was best to end things while he still could and go back to acting as if she was some girl who didn't matter.
