These aren’t remotely the same?? Trump wanted to send in the military (or unmarked federal goons, a la the Bureau of Prisons in Portland) to crack down on protests, and attempted to do so against the explicit will of municipal and state governments.
Biden, on the other hand, wants to give extra resources to the ATF already operating in most of these cities after municipal and state governments have been begging for help curbing gun violence.
There’s a big difference between sending the military in after being told not to, and adding extra manpower to existing local/federal partnerships after being asked to.
Chicago local police already operate black sites, complete with unmarked vans. They murder our children and then tarnish the names of those children post hoc to justify the murder. They’re members of hate groups (if you’re the kind of person who thinks that the 6/1 Day of the Cope was an aberration against democracy, you’ll be edified to know that at least one of the participants was a CPD guy). They hurt my friends. Nobody is ‘asking’ for the ‘help’ in the form of more cop money besides those same cops and our wretched politicians. And maybe the rich fucks on the North side and in the burbs.
Even if you believe they won’t send more people (debatable, but I’ll give you the benefit of the doubt) and that this ‘strike force’ will be about money, giving them more money is, essentially, no different than sending in more of the same.
When are people going to wise up to the fact that ‘curbing gun violence’ is always going to be code for racist policing and is never gonna target any white people with guns. Like, this has been the case for decades. If you haven’t figured it out by now, you’re deliberately looking the other way.

Arm and train every single marginalized group in the country.
