“The very very first time we met, I played Nashville and her mom Andrea came down to watch me at the Ryman and brought me like a gramophone that you stick an iPhone in, that kind of plays it. And we met after that in a hotel room in I want to say Seattle or something. It wasn’t like Los Angeles, New York, Nashville - it wasn’t like that. I think it was Seattle. Originally, it was Frank [Bell] who was her radio guy, or is her radio guy. So that was the original meeting. And then we were in a hotel room, had some burgers, had a guitar, and we wrote this Run song and I think part of another song. Then we swapped details, kept in touch, and the next time we were in Los Angeles, I didn’t know anyone there, and I kind of just hit her up like, ‘Hey, I’m in LA!’ and she was like, 'Come around!’ So I went 'round, brought my guitar, and that’s when we wrote Everything Has Changed. We famously wrote it on the trampoline. She was like, 'Do you want to see my trampoline?’ and I was like, 'Yeah!’ so we brought two guitars on the trampoline and just got kind of going back and forth, so that’s when that song was written.”
