17. goofy kiss

     ‘ hello shun-chan my name is ringo-chan and i came all the way with my friend shouyo to visit you! ‘ hinata said in a high pitched voice while holding up the stuffed cat in front of his face. he made the cat wave its paw and then poke her nose. it made her laugh which was a good sign and made him feel less awkward about buying her the present. he’d just seen it on the train ride over and the pastel pink bow around its neck just called out to him.

     hinata continued to play with the plush cat making it dance and even pressing little kisses against shun’s cheeks which made her laugh again. there was suddenly a curious feeling in his chest as he continued to speak for ringo-chan who had a dialogue going on about how soft shun’s cheeks were when he leaned in.

     he had his lips pressed against hers for less than five seconds but it was enough to make him feel as if he was up in the clouds before realization crashed him back down to earth. what had he done? she was going to hit him. she was going to hate him. she was going to LEAVE.

     in a last ditch attempt to somehow cover up what he’d done he held up ringo-chan again. ‘ m-my friend shouyo sure is silly, huh? ‘

9. Jawline Kiss

    a kiss on the cheek. a kiss on the cheek. it was only the cheek. he could manage that couldn’t he? what was a kiss anyway just lips against some skin? it was nothing compared to two whole weeks of free meat buns. yet the idea of it made his cheeks feel uncomfortably warm. oikawa was in sight putting away the last of some stray volleyballs after their practice match. nishinoya and tanaka were watching from out the door and hinata’s hands twitched as he heard their snickers.

    i can do this. you can just run away before he even reacts. yeah just a peck and you’re out of there.

    taking a breath hinata tried walking forward in the quietest, quickest manner he could manage. reaching oikawa he didn’t give the setter much chance to look at him before going on his tip toes and kissing what--didn’t quite feel as soft as a cheek normally did.

    face red and heart hammering loud in his ears he watched as oikawa bring a hand to his jaw. his jaw. he had MISSED HIS CHEEK. no. he hadn’t missed. he’d been too short to reach his cheek.

    hinata could hear full blown laughter from behind him and then see the quizzical look the captain was giving him he could only stammer out what was supposed to be an apology but came out more as a garble of sounds. then he found the quickest exit and sprinted out it. to either puke his guts out or hide under a rock forever. probably both.
