Now, here’s my birthday gift to you guys! I hope it’s useful for you.
Every year we grow and change, and sometimes we pick up bad habits or refuse to let go of old ideas that are holding us back. There’s a present waiting for us, that makes all the bullshit worthwhile – but first we have to unwrap it.
This particular spread is a little bit more fussy than I normally make them, but I’m pretty happy with the results, even if the numbering gets a little tricky.
In Figure A, you see how your spread will look once you’ve dealt the cards.
The first one will be dealt face down, at the bottom of the pile (note the hot pink back on the bottom card).
The next four will be dealt on top of that card. It doesn’t matter if they’re face down or not, since you’ll move them to new positions shortly. You can pile them neatly, I only have them spread like that in the figure to show how many cards there are.
The sixth and final card is dealt sideways, on top of your pile. Now…unwrap your present by moving the cards into position as shown in the second image.
You’ll be reading the cards in reverse order, so we start with…
Card Six - The Bow: This card is tricky. This is something in your life that you could get rid of completely – or you could make it work in your favour. It’s up to you to decide. But realize that the Bow can serve as a distraction to your true goal.
Cards Five, Four, Three and Two - The Wrapping: These are the things that keep you from your present. Destructive patterns, outmoded ideas, behaviors that just aren’t serving your best interests anymore….you’ll find them here. And if you want the present, then you’ll have take these things out of the picture. You may rip them off mercilessly, you can move with delicate precision, or start slow and get impatient halfway through. But until you’ve removed them, they’re just getting in your way. Interpret all four cards before turning your first card over.
Card One - The Present: Once you’ve interpreted the other four cards, you’re ready to discover your gift. Flip the card over and see what you’ve earned now that you’ve made it through.
