This blog, inspired by the famous Animation Backgrounds blog, will be a place to appreciate and be inspired by the amazing background art in animation. I feel like there are lots of blogs dedicated to the art of western animation, so this blog will be "mainly" focused on Japanese and non-western animation. All artwork is captured from the actual films, with characters edited out, and some digitally stitched together through taking multiple screenshots. Enjoy! A selection of Backgrounds made for Space Dandy #9, episode imagined and directed by Eunyoung Choi. I had the chance to paint every backgrounds which took 4 and 1/2 month for 340 cuts. If you like those I can make an other selection :) Anyway I encourage you to watch the show!
