I have no idea...

@sailorxstar / sailorxstar.tumblr.com

Hello! I'm Sailor X and this is my silly pointless blog. If you bother to read this, thanks. Here's a cookie for you *gives cookie*. I love Sherlock, Avengers, Sailor Moon, Harry Potter, and a lot of other shit. I don't post a lot or reblog a lot. Mostly my posts are omegle chat logs, updates on my fanfictions on ff.net, and the occasional witty thing I dare to write. So yeah, I think that's enough. Thanks for stopping by!

This is one of my favorite photos of my dad and I, he was a sweet, funny and loving dad, and a wonderful human being that would make friends everywhere because he was so charismatic and easygoing.

Mi papi passed away a few weeks ago and since then there is not a day that I don't miss him dearly, I miss his hugs and kisses, he always gave me and my brother all his love and even when we became adults taller than him, we were still his little kids, so his sudden passing has hit us very hard. I have been forced to go through painful things like choosing from his closet the clothes for his burial while he was laying right there on his bed. We spend so much money sorting stupid obligatory paperwork and stuff, that we didn't had enough for the funeral service, I don't know if this happens on other countries but in the funeral home they didn't even gave us a room, they put the coffin in the narrow dingy hallway and we had just 20 minutes to say a quick prayer and our goodbyes, it's so painful for us that we couldn't afford a proper grave (he's buried without a tombstone) or even flowers...We wish to change that. Due to the pandemic and the ongoing crisis on my country, we have been struggling with lack of food and money, my brother is a teacher without a job because all classes are suspended until next year and I at the moment I'm too distressed to work on commissions, we have run out of options... Please, please help us, I know many are struggling too so I would be very grateful for any amount you can spare, if you cannot donate it's okay, sharing this post would be helpful too, PayPal: danielscastillo512@gmail.com (if you make a donation please let me know here when you do or send me a capture if you can, it easier to check since my phone don't send me email notifications)

Please help me and my family in these really sad and difficult times.

More opinions about Seiya’s English voice

So, I got Part 2 of the Sailor Stars VIZ DVDs for Christmas, and finally got around to watching I few episodes. I went right in for the deep stuff, because I’ve been dying to see if Seiya’s voice actress got any better. And of course, I had to see what they would do with Nagareboshi He. So I watched episodes 190 and 195.

I’m not even joking when I say that Nagareboshi He is one of my absolute favorite songs of all time. I know it probably seems like I’m being biased because I love Seiya and everything, but for comparison, I’m not as fond of Todokanu Omoi because of the style of song it is. I just love the chords and melody of Nagareboshi, it reminds me of ‘yacht rock’ music, one of my favorite genres (see Steely Dan and Doobie Brothers with Michael McDonald for reference).

So, the English version of the song...UUUUUGGGHHHH. It’s like...It’s not unlistenable. They did a decent job with the translation of the lyrics, where they’re as close as possible while still making sense as an English song. But there’s no harmonies in the background vocals like in the original song, and combining that with Seiya’s voice makes it sounds like a Kidz Bop cover.

Now I’ll say this: Seiya’s voice actress did pretty well with the scene where Kakyuu dies. I finally felt like I got some emotion out of her. But the scene where he confesses his love to Usagi? Nope. Didn’t work for me AT ALL.

That scene is the climax of their relationship! The moment where he bares his heart because it’s his last chance to do so, even though he knows the feelings won’t be returned. The original recording is so much more emotional, with Seiya practically whispering by the end, so soft and vulnerable. Why does the English actress have to have that stupid gravely sound no matter what? It just makes Seiya sound angry/annoyed all the time. ARGH it’s so annoying!!!

Honestly, I almost feel like the one who plays Taiki would have been a better Seiya. Her voice is smoother and deeper and she seems to know how to convey different feelings. Yaten’s actress is great too. How could they mess up so badly with the main new character of this season? The lack of emotional range goes into the song as well. It’s like, #let Seiya have feelings 2020. It stands out even more because he has so many scenes with Usagi, whose actress does such a great job at capturing her character. They could have done better, I’m just really disappointed.

Side note, Setsuna is pretty robotic too.

This is just another video about the whole COPPA thing. Just like I said in my other post, GameTheory is going to probably take a big hit because of this.

Something I forgot to make clear in the last post is the fine for videos that are inappropriately marked. EACH VIDEO that is incorrectly marked in the eyes of the FTC will be fined at up to $42,000. Think of how many YouTubers have hundreds of videos. NO ONE can feasibly pay fines like that!!!!

MatPat also goes into detail here about how YouTube caused this by making statements saying children under 13 are using the platform when the Terms and Conditions state you must be over 13 to be on the website. THEY BLATANTLY SAID MULTIPLE TIMES THAT THEY WERE VIOLATING THE LAW, AND NOW THE CREATORS ARE PAYING FOR THEIR STUPIDITY.

Please, I'm begging, spread the word!!! I love the content creators, I don't want to see them be financially ruined like this because YouTube made mistakes.

People are liking and reblogging the drarry art I have on my blog like crazy, and that's good, I want to support the artists. But they're not looking at this, and it's killing me. I'm so afraid for my favorite content creators. Please, please, please reblog!

Marking “Not For Kids” Doesn’t Protect You - COPPA Update

SPREAD THIS AROUND LIKE WILDFIRE. NO ONE SEEMS TO BE TALKING ABOUT THIS.

I don’t usually post about serious stuff, but this is a big deal. Like as big a deal as Article 13.

What Chad says in this video about people not really understanding the nature of this COPPA update is true; I also thought it was just a new YouTube rule, but it’s so much more.

Here are major highlights from the video, in case you want don’t want to watch (though I highly recommend you do, it’s worth it to learn more):

The FTC is revising the COPPA laws which are basically the laws that regulate content children may consume. In relation to YouTube, this is not just about content that is marked as suitable for children. IT’S FOR ANYTHING THAT A CHILD MAY ON THEIR OWN DECIDE TO WATCH.

Content creators on YouTube will be able to mark their video as for children or not. HOWEVER, if a video is marked as ‘not for children’, but an FTC official (not a YouTube worker, A GOVERNMENT WORKER) decides that it could appeal to children, the creator is liable for that violation and will be fined.

If a video is marked as ‘for children’ and follows all the rules, it’s fine. HOWEVER, YouTube has instated new limitations on these videos. Subscribers will not get a notification of it posting, comments will be disabled, you won’t be able to search for that video, it will not appear in the suggested/recommended area on YouTube’s homepage (which is how many content creators grow their viewer base), and there will be no targeted ads, making the video revenue drop by 90%.

That last part is the major issue here. Content creators won’t be able to make money, in an age where being a YouTuber finally is a viable career. THIS IS RUINING CAREERS FOR CONTENT CREATORS THE SAME WAY ARTICLE 13 WAS FOR ARTISTS.

Chad talks about video game channels and toy collectors, and those are definitely highly at risk channels, but based on the vague language of this law, this is also going to wind up affecting any channels that have anything to do with fandoms that children might also be a part of. Harry Potter, Marvel, Pokemon, Disney, Nickelodeon, Cartoon Network, the list goes on. Those are just some examples of things that I personally watch videos about on YouTube. It makes up the majority of my favorite content creators.

This law is going to affect so much more content than toy or let’s play videos. It’s going to affect theory videos (Game Theory, SuperCarlinBrothers), videos that talk about animation or fandom history (SaberSpark), cosplayers (The Mischief Managers anyone?), parody-makers, people who make animation (I’m thinking of Hazbin Hotel right now), people who cover music from cartoons/movies/games. ANYTHING THAT COULD POSSIBLY HAVE APPEAL TO A CHILD IS AT RISK.

It isn’t fair that adults who happen to enjoy a certain piece of media and have made a career using that media as a base will now be punished because children may also enjoy that media. BUT THERE IS SOMETHING WE CAN STILL DO.

The FTC is allowing public comment until December 9th. COMMENT AND LET THEM KNOW THAT THEY NEED TO CHANGE THE LANGUAGE OF THIS LAW. Don’t be rude, of course, but make sure you’re clear on why this law is a problem and how badly it will affect so many people who are obviously not trying to target an audience of children. The language of the law is too vague. Adults can enjoy cartoons, toys, and videogames as well, and want to be able to freely express opinions, make tributes, and share with fellow fans in mature, child-free ways. Just because we like something children also like DOESN’T MEAN WE WANT CHILDREN TO WATCH OUR VIDEOS.

a really tough time + gofundme

Hi, everyone. I know I’ve been quiet on here for a long time, for several reasons…chief among them is a double wrist injury that left me with nerve damage and unable to draw for several months. However if you followed the instagram I had until sadness made me disable it, you could see that I’ve been making progress on the drawing front for a few months.

But I have to do two things that I hate doing: apologize, and ask for something.

  1. An apology: to everyone who paid $3-$20 for a comic and then had me ghost on them. Between my injuries and the other illnesses and animal sickness and job loss and general misfortune… I left you guys totally hanging and that wasn’t right. I’m going to tag everyone with open commissions down below so you can see this and know that i am back and working on them once more! <3 I’m so sorry to have kept you waiting
  2. To ask for something on behalf of both my wife @camael-fanart and myself:

In the past year we’ve lost just about everything.

We are tens of thousands of dollars in debt and trying to keep our kitty Frances alive. The full details are in our gofundme:

if you want to read about the year from hell and how our situation went to crap. It’s been really scary. I’ll definitely post the gofundme again soon, but if drarry fandom people can share this I would be eternally grateful. I would never ask unless we were out of options- we’re selling most of our stuff but it’s not going to be enough to get out of the woods. My family has disowned me and my wife’s family is not well-off so we have no safety net anymore.

That’s all for now. Just want to thank you guys for everything- you’re good people and you have my love forever <3

I couldn’t give too much, so I wanted to share to hopefully get some other people to help. This poor couple and their kitties fell on such hard times, I hope things get better for them!!

We are always told to use body language in our writing. Sometimes, it’s easier said than written. I decided to create these cheat sheets to help you show a character’s state of mind. Obviously, a character may exhibit a number of these behaviours. For example, he may be shocked and angry, or shocked and happy. Use these combinations as needed.

You guys, this is such a great chart especially for budding writers. Sometimes it’s more effective to show a character being bored or excited or shocked without explicitly saying so.

Where had this been all my life?

This isn’t just useful for writing, this is an absolute lifesaver for people with Asperger’s syndrome and other disorders

I needed this.
