If anyone understands making mistakes out of scientific curiosity, it's me. I was working for Leekie because there were things I wanted to know, about evolution, genetics. I know what it's like to cross the line. That doesn't determine your future. That's what your aunt taught me. Love defines us.

Hi, I'm recreating the Christian nativity scene with birds but can't figure out who should be the shepard. Here's what I have so far. Do you have any suggestions?

im going to be completely honest im taken aback by this image. can you explain the reasonings behind the other bird choices if there is any? if you have a method here i want to go with that. wait holy fuck did you pick the jacana because it walks on water

Mary is a California Condor because I read an article about them reproducing asexually. Jesus is also a California Condor, but he's trans because all the asexually born chicks were female. Joseph is a Jacana because he's the Jesus bird, and yeah the water walking was good foreshadowing. The three wise men are crows because of their puzzle solving. The angel is a pigeon because I love them.

Hope this helps!

and let me pile onto "watch deadloch for all the women" pitch because while it's both amazing and fantastic and also so good at being extremely on point about social issues and progressive politics without being didactic or overly polemic -- it just is a very smart, very funny, very real show -- it also addresses issues of race, ethnicity, and indigenous rights fully properly, and seriously, and beautifully. it's not just another white women and/or white lesbians and/or white queers show, and that's why we say "watch deadloch for all the women"
