more stuff about becoming a god being inherently dehumanizing pls

too much focus on Ascension or becoming Greater not enough focus on what is Lost of you

you're not a person anymore, just a personification. you're a concept, an abstraction. all neatly defined boundaries and borders, none of the vagueries or blurring of lines or grey areas that come from being mortal.

you can never change, now. never grow or evolve, you are this, forever, stagnant. and the thing you've been made to embody might not even be your best trait.

This is what happened when a fanfic site is profit driven. Wattpad sucks 😞

The email from Wattpad is so condescending imagine pressuring writers to update and work while they are doing it for free and fun. Also the discovery? Algorithm? Of Wattpad looks like a stressful popularity contest 😑

Hey I just wanna quickly say that you only get these if someone reports the story. I've barely updated on Wattpad in the past two years and haven't gotten any of these, mostly because I don't even have an audience over there who has the potential or drive to report my fics. So, corporate greed is bad, yes, but it's also readers being buttheads

Hmm, that's interesting! You know what happens if someone reports a story for being incomplete on AO3? Jack shit, because not churning out content for your fun little hobby is not a reportable offense on AO3! And that's because, unlike Wattpad, AO3 isn't profiting off of your work, either directly or indirectly, and so when readers are buttheads, the AO3 abuse mods ignore them, instead of sending out weird automated messages harassing writers for daring to have a wip.

we need to come up for a good word for ""AI"" that doesn't imply it's artificial or intelligent and highlights the stolen human labor. like theftgen

(workshop this with me)

I have been calling it TBTM or Tech Bro Tracing Machine, but I like theftgen.

I feel like people realize the art theft programs aren't actually intelligent, that's why they feel comfortable taking credit for the art created by the program.

It's the chatbots that really have people fooled. I blame the "Turing test," personally. Society was told that the way to know if a machine is intelligent is if they can carry on a convincing conversation, and companies took advantage of that to create text generators that mimic humans in a convincing way, without any understanding or intelligence behind what the software "says."

That's why it isn't just "don't imply it's intelligent" in the original post but "emphasize the stolen art aspect."

[Image I.D.: On the left a woman scowls at the text that reads "Artifical Intelligence (A.I.)". On the right the same woman looks approvingly at the text "Plagarized Information Synthesis System (P.I.S.S.)". End I.D.]

Anonymous asked:

can you explain what you mean when you say "lace rot" ???

It’s a term one of my friends came up with - the lace rot, or lace rot disease, usually affects fibre artists (or budding fibre artists) when they’re seeing other people make lace, and then suddenly they’re consumed with the desire to make lace as well!

It works like this: you’re innocently scrolling tumblr, and suddenly come across pictures of an incredibly beautiful, gossamer thin knit shawl, with elegant pattering and beaded in sparkly gems. It looks so intricate and complicated! Then somebody links the pattern, and you look at it, and figure out that it’s actually just increases and decreases and some yarn overs. Oh, you think. You could make one too!!

At this point, it’s already too late, and the lace rot has set its roots in your soul. There’s no point trying to fight it. You will acquire new sharp needles, and more beads than is wise (they are so sparkly!), and oh look, you already had lace weight yarn in your stash, who would have known, and then you will knit a lace shawl. And then another lace shawl. You’re browsing ravelry. Your mutuals are helpfully bringing you new patterns. Then somebody mentions crochet, or needle lace, and suddenly you’re catching yourself rifling through antique pattern libraries for tatting inspiration. You’re suddenly learning four new additional crafts. You make another lace shawl while yearning for more complicated lace shawls, a beautiful, gossamer thin knit shawl, with elegant pattering and beaded in sparkly gems. It looks so intricate and complicated! Yet it was surprisingly easy to create. You post it to tumblr.

Somebody else scrolls through your dash and sees your pictures. Oh, they think…

there is a way to keep from being consumed by the shawls however!!

…it just includes allready having fallen into the embrace of the other, non-knit, lace techniques

there is a way to

keep from being consumed by

the shawls however!!

Beep boop! I look for accidental haiku posts. Sometimes I mess up.
