fuck yeah, hard femme!

@fuckyeahhardfemme / fuckyeahhardfemme.tumblr.com

a celebration of fabulous femme folks who look just as tough as they do fly and a plethora of hard femme inspirations. this is not a fashion/style blog; this is an identity blog with a large fashion/style component. femme =/= female please keep that in mind when reblogging - misgendering is rude as hell and easily avoided.

so direct action is not an option available to you. what can you do right now instead?

Be mindful of the content you’re putting on your social media accounts. Stop retweeting/reposting violent images and videos of black people dying. Know that content like this, even with trigger warnings included, can be very emotionally disturbing/distressing and yes, even traumatic, for black people navigating the internet right now.

Report any images and videos you see where protestors’ faces are visible/unblurred, particularly in content surrounding the lootings. Don’t retweet or repost these images and videos. This can be a death sentence.

Hey everyone, here’s a new fundraising update video!

[Closed captioning via YouTube, Transcript here (x)]

Major points: - I’ve raised a little over $2,000 for my top surgery, which is 1/5th of the goal! - I had to pay the full amount on March 25th, 2016, which I charged to a new credit card that comes with fees, interest, etc - ^This means I still need to raise the full amount! And there’s only ~2 weeks left to donate

Lexi Adsit/@sistahmamaqueen also wanted to challenge folks to match her $100 donation by: 1) Donating $100 2) Getting a friend & donating $50 each 3) Getting three friends & donating $25 each, OR 4) Share with your networks

Regardless, I truly appreciate your time & support! Luna Merbruja

♡♡♡♡♡♡

there’s only 24 hours left! please boost & donate <3 <3

April 7th, 2016 Update:

I had surgery two days ago and I’m in a ton of pain and recovering at home. So far, everything is healing as it should be! My body isn’t responding super well to pain meds, but other than that, nothing incredibly awful is happening.

There’s only 10 days left to raise the remaining ~$6,300 needed. As mentioned, this is all on a credit card right now so please help a girl out!! I’ve been dedicated to liberation and worked tirelessly in various social justice movements for a decade and would really love to receive support in my gender journey. Thank you <3 <3

Hey everyone! I’m going through a huge life moment and need your support - I’m getting breast augmentation!!

It’s super vulnerable to be talking about this surgery, especially as a trans woman because often our gender choices are sensationalized and viewed as “cosmetic” rather than affirming. For me, this is the *only* surgery that feels exciting and liberating, so please support me with some donations, share with your networks, and/or feel free to message me with support because I’m totally open to receiving that!

I’m really trusting the universe, faith, and you all to show up as my community and family right now. I’ve never had any type of major surgery before so this is all super exciting and nerve wracking and joyful.

Please take some time to read the fundraiser (x) for some more info. Thank you so much!

all the love & hope, Luna Merbruja

Hi! My name’s Arran and I’m a disabled/chronically ill bi and agender femme, I also have severe OCD and C-PTSD as a result of surviving long-term abuse. I used to do camming but thanks to my health and mental state it’s no longer an option. At the moment I rely on government benefits, but thanks to a mistake (someone writing my address down wrong), the people in charge of giving me housing benefit assumed I’d moved and terminated my claim.

Housing benefit covers my rent and is very important for my survival. I’ve been trying to get it sorted for weeks and they keep promising payment soon but last month I had to borrow money from friends to pay my rent. As you can imagine it’s a very stressful and guilt-inducing thing to have to do.

I thought that the payment would be reinstated soon and I wouldn’t have the debt hanging over me for long time. This didn’t happen and now rent day is rolling around again (sooner than expected because I forgot until now how short February is).

I would be very scared to ask my landlord if I can pay him later because he’s a misogynist with a power complex who has made his distaste of me very clear for daring to have boundaries by making my life hell whilst he was here (he only lives here part time) and ignoring all my communications about the repairs that need doing in the flat whilst he isn’t.

He’s made me very concerned for my safety. I’m also on very dodgy legal standing as I am a lodger not a tenant. Plus I don’t really know when exactly it will be reinstated.

I’ve set the asking price for £600. My rent + council tax is about £570 and the remainder will go towards bills like heating which is very expensive this time of year in Scotland. If my benefit gets reinstated in time the money will go to paying back the friends I borrowed from.

It’s possible I may get a backpayment of benefits, in which case if you’re also a marginalised/broke person you can message me and I’ll try to get your donation back to you (obviously can’t do so if you have donated anonymously). I’ve set up a justgiving account but it takes a few days to verify. I will reblog this with the link when it does. For now, my paypal is monnie_mo[at}hotmail[dot]com.

ahahahaha lol, not that I’m scatty due to stress or anything but the justgiving link I shared is…. kind of not helpful because I need to get to my money in ten days and apparently I can’t take it out until after 30. I’m really sorry if you’ve donated, I’ve emailed them to close it and return the payments. In the meantime, here is an actually useful funding link. http://gogetfunding.com/help-me-pay-rent/

A little about me: My name is Lexi Adsit and I’m a 24 year old trans latina organizer, activist, creator, producer, and general badass from the San Francisco Bay Area. I have spent the past 8 years working in the nonprofit sector and with community around intersectional issues close to my heart, most recently training trans women of color to be comediennes! I have also previously worked on the International Trans Women of Color Network Gathering, Queer Yo Mind Conference, and more large projects all while also working or going to school full-time at San Francisco State University or the nonprofit sector. I have worked at the following nonprofit organizations: California School-Age Consortium, Asian & Pacific Islander Wellness Center, El/La Para TransLatinas, Youth Leadership Institute, Tri-City Health Center, San Francisco Department of Public Health, and countless others. You can learn more about the depth of my experiences here. The Vision: It has always been my dream to go to cosmetology school and I am finally making it happen. I also plan on sharing what I learn with the world through the “Looks by Lexi” brand, youtube videos, and offering sliding scale/free beauty consultations with underserved communities. It is my hope to master/explore a couple different aspects of cosmetology: bridal make-up, science fiction make-up, and standard cutting & coloring of hair/wigs/weaves. Throughout my own transition I have succeeded and failed countless times when it came to my hair, make-up, and outfits. It is my hope through online videos, consultations, coaching, and more to showcase how to acquire the confidence and beauty knowledge to discover your individual ‘look’. Why you should support Looks by Lexi: Previously, I have worked on a lot of community-oriented and driven projects and while this work has fed my soul and skillset in countless ways I am making the decision to take a break from this work temporarily. The past 8 years of nonprofit work has not been easy. I have built up a network of over 2,000 individuals, many of whom I love and envision having as life-long friends and community. However, I also have experienced a lot of trauma, tokenization, and abuse in the workplace. This has unfortunately led to a very unhealthy addiction to work and development of anxiety and major depression that has negatively affected my mental health. It is my hope that cosmetology school will help heal some of this trauma and help me build a career where I can be my own boss. I also am hoping to focus only on school full-time without taking on extra projects or responsibilities so my mental health and social life can remain stable. What Your Money Goes Towards: I have been living without an income for the past two months as I have healed, reconnected with loved ones, and taken time to re-center myself. This means I need money for public transit to/from San Francisco, where I will be going to Cosmetology school, food, paying the minimum on my bills and occasionally pitch in for cat food for Clarence, my sweet little grey cat. $3,000 covers the bare minimum of these expenses for the next year that I will be in school. My YouCaring page is set up to be active for the next few months and hopefully spread out the funds raised.
