not to be shady on main but it’s crazy to see someone use AI for fan illustration, get called out in the comments and then disable them, only to double down and post “proof”……..the proof being a traced version of that image as if that’s a wip. none of the line work matching up to the final, the characters being different one image to another. literally just be honest

like the conversation about creatives and AI is like stepping on a land mine (and as someone abt to enter the cg/vfx industry boy have we had many a conversation and conference about this, if someone wants to yap in my inbox about it pls go ahead) and it’s nuanced enough. it can be a tool for professionals like any other, given the right circumstances and ethics. but for FANWORK? fanart?? fanfiction???????????

there is nothing to gain from fanwork but personal satisfaction, because it’s just a work entirely of passion, you can’t monetize it, it’s a labor of love from one creator to another. to love a piece of media so much that it changes you, that you spend time creating something and putting part of yourself out there screaming from the rooftops “here is something i love so dearly that i spent my time on it! love it with me! hold it close to your heart with me!”

who cares if it sucks. who cares if no one sees it. it’s for a community it’s for you it’s for LOVE. why take what is so sacred until there is no love left to give.

Definitely went into Dune Part 2 the first time like "OK, but wouldn't it be worth cutting forward to Paul in his twenties and swapping out Chalomet for Adam Driver, even if that also means substituting Zendaya so you have the dude who looks like he can do some damage?" and boy, was I wrong. Turns out a huge part of Paul's effectiveness in this film is the dissonance Chalomet creates between being a little dude and the intensity he musters. Especially when he goes full Lisan and reveals that he can take his voice to some properly guttural places.

Like, there's the bit where he says to the assembled Fremen (most of those we can see looking rather bigger and stronger than him) and "you think any of you would have a chance" and I'm like mate, you're pretty wee, but then he reaches for that lower pitch and... meep. Not I. Not a chance.

my dream as a fanfic writer is to write a story which people want to talk to me about and send asks about afterwards and discuss things the characters did and the symbolism and meanings behind certain lines and I'll be all "hehe thanks" but irl I'll be in literal tears because I wrote something that means something to someone

I got an AO3 comment once which summarised said, 'I've been reading this fic for years and I keep coming back to it over and over because it's so amazing and I feel guilty that all this time I never commented, so this is me letting you know how much it's meant to me for so long.'
