TOP 10 TIPS & TRICKS FOR MORE EFFECTIVE LEARNING MASTERPOST
1. 50:10 ratio.
If you have loads of work try using the 50:10 ratio. Work in focused 50 minutes intervals with a 10 minute break in between. It has been scientifically proven to help you retain more information. See here for more.
2. Social-media management
If you’re like me & you get easily distracted by your phone or computer while studying, use an app that blocks certain sites. Here are a few
3. Organise your work space
To be at your performing peak you need to make sure that you have a specific space to study. Make sure that this space is organised and clean so you don’t get distracted.
4. Silence or Song?
Studying with certain types of music has found to be beneficial. However, try keep it to softer music such as instrumental or classical. But working in silence can be just a beneficial. If you find there are too many noises distracting you, do what I do and buy some earplugs.
5. Study Buddies
Find another person doing the same subject/s as you such as a close an reliable friend. Studying with other people can help keep you motivated and stay on track. You can also try divide some of the work up between yourselves to lighten your workload.
6. Teacher-teacher.
Play Teacher and teach the work you have studied. Whether it to your study buddy, a friend, your parents or even an inanimate option like a teddybear (yup Ive been there), teaching your work to others will help you understand the material and will make you see where you are falling short.
7. Mnemonics Mnemonics Mnemonics
If you have a lot of content that ou have to remember or a list of points use mnemonics. Mnemonics are memory devices such as using the first letter of each word or small images which help you recall listed info. By using mnemonics to remember facts or concepts you will be able to recall them quickly as well as have a greater understanding of them.
8. Recall without referencing your notes.
Try to study by asking yourself questions or reading over past tests/exams to see what you are able to recall without looking at your notes or a textbook. Learn your work and then put your notes away and go over what you have studied either by talking out loud or writing it down.
9. Eat well and drink water
To stay mentally alert you need to be healthy. Make time to eat properly and have healthy study snacks available while you study to keep you energized. My favorite snacks for studying are celery sticks with cream cheese, sunflower seeds, apple slices and popcorn.

10. A little exercise helps
Try do a little bit of exercise to release some endorphin’s and to take a break from the books. Even taking a walk or doing some yoga will do the trick.

”The woman’s got to show up, [like], “We all done, sweetie? Okay. Out you go, I gotta make a story out of this mess.”
#me @ quentin tarantino fans
Mad Max: Fury Road and practically every film JJ Abrams has ever made including The Force Awakens.
Mad Max: Fury Road was edited by Margaret Sixel, who is married to George Miller and who he begged to edit the film because he said that if a man edited it, would be a totally different movie and not one he wanted to make.
Maryann Brandon and Mary Jo Markey edited The Force Awakens. Maryann Brandon has worked on almost all of the shows and films Abrams has worked on and Mary Jo Markey is also a frequent collaborator.
Thelma Colbert Schoonmaker has edited all of Martin Scorcese’s films since Raging Bull and worked with him for around 40 years.
Sally Menke edited all of Quentin Tarantino’s films until her tragic death in 2010.
Julia Bloch is an editor gaining attention for her work on Blue Ruin and Green Room.
about 40% of Hollywood editors are women. when discussing how these women are underrepresented, you need to give their names.
