Our Little Horror Story

The air was finally running again. Mika took in a few breaths of the fresh air and returned to the cameras. Yuu was… doing something strange. He was poking at a Foxy mask. To Mika it just looked like a simple decoration of the pizzaria, but he had to wonder what Yuu saw in his crazed state. He watched, ready to use the sound button again if necessary. His heart really went out for the male…

Foxy wasn’t responding, so he moved onto the Chica head on the floor - she came out rather fast. Her spirit floated around, seeming confused at first. But she followed orders rather quickly, zooming off towards the office or somewhere.

Yuu was grinning on the inside as he stomped towards his next destination.

Mika was scrolling through the cameras again when it happened. A pair of eyes looked out at him from one of them, and suddenly a giant see-through chicken leapt out at him. He screamed, throwing up his arms as a shield. When nothing else happened, he cautiously lowered them and looked around. There was nothing there. The blond blinked, confused. He checked the ventilation, but it said it was fine. So he had no idea why he was suddenly hallucinating... or if he was. Was it possible the spirits of the murdered children were here after all?

Surprisingly… it worked. Mika took a deep breath, grimacing when he felt the ventilation shut down. Seriously, why didn’t they just fix the stupid thing instead of letting it fail repeatedly. He switched his attention to getting it working again, his breathing deepening with the effort of breathing through it.

Yuu stumbled into another room. angry that he couldn’t find the kid. He found the Foxy head again, he suddenly got an idea in his insane state. He poked at the mask, “Foxy…I know you are there. Come back and help me get the humans!” He demanded.

Mika had been watching on the camera, so he saw when Yuu broke through the room. He cheered quietly, hoping there really was something in there that would help them. But then… something happened. He could tell Yuu was no longer himself. A shiver of fear ran down his spine. He had to use the button to distract him, to keep him from coming close. He pressed it, blinking in surprise. A child’s voice? That was just cruel…

Of course, Yuu wasn’t interested in following the sound of children. But in his insane state, he wanted to kill anything. Plus his suit seemed to also respond to the sound. Perhaps the animatronic was programmed to go into rooms that children were..

He shambled towards the noise, looking around crazily.

“The police wouldn’t have a reason to search here.” Mika told the animatronic. “It might be owned by the same company, but it’s been years since the murders. They’d have no probably cause… but there has to be something.” He had to believe that. He walked back over to the cameras, scrolling through them. “There’s… there’s a room, toward the back. On my first tour of the building, I noticed it was locked and that there are no cameras inside. Perhaps you might find something in there?” If anyone could get in that room, it would be Yuu.

Yuu nodded and did his weird walk back to said room. One would walk oddly when in a giant animatronic suit, being dead and everything.

He found the locked room eventually, punching the lock right off the door with ease. Being metal and charged with supernatural strength had some perks. He tried to peer in the darkness for a moment before he suddenly…spaced out.

He could feel something clawing at his brain, he forgot why he was here. Who was he again? He began to twitch, why was he here? Someone had killed him, he needed to kill someone for this. He screamed out and began attacking anything he saw that vaguely resembled a person as he started to go through the attraction again, violently.

The blond colored at the compliment. “I… it’s just the way I am. And as for knowing you aren’t the killer? Part of it is just a feeling. But like I said, there’s bits to the story that don’t add up if you were the murderer. So I don’t believe you are.” He tilted his head to the side, favoring the animatronic with a small smile. “Maybe they slipped up. Maybe something here will help us learn the truth. Or maybe it really is in your memories, buried way down. Either way, I want to help you.”

Yuu was still stunned by the blond’s words and the way he smiled at him. He would definitely have a big fat crush on him - but something like that was really unfair in a suit like this, plus he was a corpse now…

He looked away to stare at a wall. “Where do we even begin to look in this place? What can we find that police couldn’t?”

“I’ve never seen such a beautiful eye color.” Mika confirmed. He walked slowly toward the glass, placing one hand up on it. “Yuu-chan…” He blushed as the nickname just slipped out. But really, it was more fitting for the male. He might look scary now, but Mika could tell that the male had been very kind in his life. There was no way he’d been the killer. “I’m not going to leave you here alone. Firstly, I hired on here to learn about the murders in the past. The story has fascinated me for years. Why was it covered up? Why does no one want to learn the truth? Those are just a couple questions I want to find out the answers to.”
“But it’s more than that now. Now… I’ve met you. Yes, maybe it’d be safer to stay away. But if I did that you’d be all alone. There would be nothing or no one to help you through the urges growing inside you. That’s unfair to you. You don’t deserve that just because you’re trapped in that suit. I believe you’re just as much a victim as those murdered children were. So, no Yuu-chan, I’m not leaving. I’m going to return here each day for the shifts I was hired for.”

Yuu stared for a long time at Mikaela, shocked beyond words. “W-why are you so kind? How can you be so sure I’m not the killer?” He didn’t know what to do, he just knew he could never let himself attack this pure angel standing before him. He sure looked and acted like an angel…

“How do we solve the murders of many years ago? I don’t have a lot of memory…do you think something is hidden in this attraction somewhere?” He questioned, unsure of how they would figure things out about things that happened way in the past when the had no real leads.

Our Little Horror Story

The ventilation system failed shortly after Mika arrived for his second night. He breathed hard as he worked on getting it functioning again. He knew if he wasn’t quick, he’d start seeing things, because that’s what he’d been told. With Yuichiro in the building, he wanted to make sure everything was in working order. He needed to know what he was looking at was real.
Fresh air blasted him in the face, and he took a grateful breath. He sat back down in the chairs, eyes closed, just focusing on breathing for a moment. Yuichiro’s voice, cracked, metallic, and eerie, had him opening them again. He saw the withered animatronic looking at him through the glass. “I… couldn’t stay away.” He admitted.
Mika stood slowly, looking into Yuichiro’s eyes. “I did more research. Yuichiro Amane was a night guard. He disappeared. A missing person’s report was filed. That… I don’t believe they would have done that if you were the murderer. My guess is you found out who the real killer was, and were drawn into their trap.” He paused, coloring faintly. “They had a picture of you. You had the most incredible eyes I’ve ever seen.”

“Oh…” Yuu was sure if he could blush, he would be doing so right now.  “My eyes stood out that much?” Now they were dead and lifeless, probably scary looking animatronic eyes - made him wonder if the rest of him used to be good looking as well.

He shook his head, his bunny ears flopping around. “I wonder if the killer is still out there or if he died by now…if he’s still alive….he would be old.” It wasn’t fair that he got away when he got stuck in this.

“Anyway…it’s not safe for you here. I always feel the urge to kill growing stronger…I don’t want you becoming another mystery for this damn place. Who knows how many lives were lost now…”

“I’ve never seen such a beautiful eye color.” Mika confirmed. He walked slowly toward the glass, placing one hand up on it. “Yuu-chan...” He blushed as the nickname just slipped out. Mika left, but he couldn’t get Yuichiro out of his head. Instead of sleeping like he should have, he spent the day searching out what threads of the story he could find. He did manage to locate Yuichiro’s name on a list of missing persons, and that he’d been a guard at the first location. He pondered that, chewing on the end of a pen as he jotted down notes and then reread them. He’d already found out some very interesting things, just by talking to Yuu for one shift.
He thought briefly about listening to Yuu and not returning, but he was too intrigued. He knew this could cost him his life, but he wasn’t going to give up. Arriving at the diner, he pressed play to hear the night’s instructions. He snorted and rolled his eyes at the ‘We found one’ bit. A little late there, since he’d met Yuu the night previous. He inspected the new button that had been installed. It apparently played music that would distract the animatronic if it came too close. Yet the tape assured him that since it was in such disrepair, it most likely couldn’t move. Wow, this business really didn’t know what went on, did they? Unless it was all an elaborate trap. Mika could believe that.

Yuu woke up again the next night, he was correct about the spirits being active at night thing it seemed. He supposed that made sense, in almost every movie and story he could think of, things always happened at night - why? He didn’t know.

He started moving throughout the building again, once more studying it. He felt the need to know every part of it, for some reason. Probably the killing side that was always fighting to take control. He looked at the Foxy head on the wall, he still wondered if the spirits moved on or if they were still trapped inside of these parts left around.

He felt himself twitching unnaturally again as he approached the office, he could feel himself losing control. If Mikaela was here again - maybe talking to him would keep him sane. He stood at the window and peered in.

“Y-you came back…” His voice croaked eerily.

“Well, you shouldn’t do it anyway.” The human admonished. His eyes widened at the low growl. “Ah, um…” He slowly backed away from the glass. He didn’t know if the animatronic could break it or not, but better not to find out. And better not to trigger the craziness, since this office didn’t have doors. It wouldn’t take much for Yuichiro to get in here. It sounded like, even if he hadn’t been the murderer, he was having those urges now. He chanced a glance at the clock, realizing with a start his shift was over. Apparently running for his life, hiding, and then communicating with Yuichiro had taken up the whole night. “It’s… time for me to go.”

“Yeah…it’s probably best if you go. And…don’t come back, I don’t want to hurt you.” Yuu’s animatronic twitched, then he found himself walking back to where he was stationed. “Aah…I think there is a rule or something with spirits being weak in the day. I’m not going to be able to move soon. It was nice to meet you, Mikaela.” He said over his shoulder as he stomped away.

Mika moved forward quickly, momentarily forgetting to be cautious, pressing his hands to the glass. “Stop it, don’t hurt yourself!” He frowned, thinking. “I don’t… have the answers. Only you do. Somewhere inside you, the memories must remain. Even with as long as it’s been. Perhaps you just need time to remember.” He paused again. “You don’t seem like a murderer. Self-hate doesn’t seem to be a trait a murderer would have.”

Yuu turned to stare at Mikaela, he was surprised that the other male would care about his well-being. What if he was a killer? He had almost attacked him!

“It doesn’t hurt…I wonder if I feel pain, being dead and all…” He sighed, but considered what the blond had said. “Perhaps a murderer wouldn’t feel such things…I do have brief thoughts of…I think I was trying to find the murderer. Yet, being a spirit…or this suit…it’s making me feel a little crazy.” He growled lowly at the sight of Mikaela being so close, he wanted to grab him…

His mouth felt very dry. Closing it, he swallowed hard. Well, he’d wanted a story. Talking to someone who had been there went beyond what he’d expected. Especially if this was the killer. Except… the animatronic just sounded confused. Considering the time that had passed since the murders, maybe that wasn’t surprising.
Mika stood slowly, not wanting to do anything to upset Yuichiro. After all, the male had been chasing him a little while ago. “The stroies have faded. No one wants to talk about them. Or they were purposefully hushed up. Even what’s taught in history books is sketchy. That’s why I took this job. It’s the same company. I wanted to know the truth, to write my own story about it. I think… I read your name somewhere in connection to the murders. I’m not sure…” He shivered as he looked at the animatronic. He could see bones and flesh beneath the suit.

“…Maybe I did do it.” He repeated after Mikaela’s reply, it sure sounded like he did. “That doesn’t feel right, but all signs point to it…” He continued looking at his withered metallic hand. “Do us spirits just cling to these suits because it was part of our lives and we don’t want to let go? We have unsettled  business? I wonder if the others have moved on…”

He looked around again, he hadn’t seen any other animatronics since he had got here. “Hopefully they found peace…if I did those horrible things…perhaps I deserve this…” He clenched up his fist and hit it into a wall, not feeling any pain.
