when i see you again

@paurps-blog / paurps-blog.tumblr.com

forever now
I know we loved to hit the road and laugh but something told me that it wouldn't last, had to switch up, look at things different, see the bigger picture; those were the days... I loved being a part of the roleplay community, I truly did. I had an awesome time and I got to meet so, so many cool and inspiring people it's unreal. Still, I like to come full circle with some stuff and I don't think I'll be able to stick around anymore, so this is goodbye. Thank you all for making this experience as incredible as it was. I love you.

 #NiUnaMenos: Argentina against femicides

One woman is murdered every 30 hours in Argentina and today (June 3rd) we raised our voices against the institutionalized misogyny we suffer every day. More than 200 thousand people that gathered around the Congress, making this the biggest feminist manifestation this country has ever seen.

#NiUnaMenos movement made it to more than 100 cities in the country and even to Chile and Uruguay. And it all started with a message in Twitter by a angered journalist who was tired of covering news about women being murdered

These are the five mayor claims this manifestation has:

1) The implementation, with every needed resources, of the National Plan to Prevent, Assist and Erradicate violence against women as established in the number 26.485 law

2) Guarantee to the victim access to the Justice. Every police station must have professionals receiving the women’s reports of violence. The civil and penal causes must be unified in one. Victims must have all the trial money covered by the goverment

3) Make a Oficial Registry for all the victims of violence against women. Make official and up to date stadistics about femicides. Only knowing the dimension of what’s happening accurate public policies can be made

4) Guarantee a non sexist Integral Sexual Education in all educational levels to educate in the equality for a life free of discrimination and misogynist violence.

5) Guarantee the protection of the victims of violence. Implement the electronic monitoring of the victimizer to assure the restraining order the Justice made upon them is not violated.

What's going on in Argentina?

Avatar

yesterday, June 3rd, hundreds of thousands of people marched in more than 68 cities to protest the raising numbers of rapes, violence and femicides; under the slogan of “NI UNA MENOS” (not one woman less) and ask for

the correct, effective implementation and funding of law 26.485, which was legislated a couple years ago but never fully applied, and it’s a project to protect women against violence and includes a nation-wide plan to prevent, and eradicate violence against women.

after the official number of women murdered in the last year went up to 277, with a national average of one murder every 30 hours and five big, mediatic cases of women and girls raped and murdered in just the last few weeks (including a pregnant 14 y/o girl murdered by her boyfriend and a 17 y/o girl raped and murdered by three classmates); we’ve had enough.

the public finally decided to do something about it, with a series of pacific demonstrations that included 150 thousands people marching to national congress in buenos aires, plus demonstrations in most of the rest of the country (we don’t have official numbers for the amount of people involved, but you can see the pictures in the tag)

of course, the official number is a lie: there are hundreds more women who never were found or made the media, the murder of trans women isn’t counted as femicide and the women who die in clandestine abortions aren’t counted either.

this movement comes with reclaims for:

  • more thorough investigations of the accused, more support for the victims and harsher punishment for the guilty of these crimes (just this week, a known fútbol player got only six months for brutally beating his wife)
  • the impeachment of the corrupt and misogynist judges who let rapists, beaters and murderers walk free or with minimum charges (like these)
  • shelters, resources and aid for women in situation of familiar violence (which have been being closed systematically for lack of funding)

and also (though, of course, the mainstream movement doesn’t agree on all of this)

  • more support, aid and protection for trans women (the average lifespan of a transgender woman today is under 35 years and, though we have a gender identity legislation that allows people to change their name and gender without needing all the surgeries and shit, trans women still can’t get job, shelter or any societal aid, and the projects to give them economic support are barely starting to function)
  • more support, aid and protection for sex workers, and a systemic dismantling of the human trafficking network (which includes cops, politicians and public figures, and causes the abduction and enslavement of hundreds, maybe thousands of girls every year)
  • de-penalization and legalization of abortion under any circumstance. free, accessible abortions for everyone. (around 400 women die every year in clandestine abortions, and i don’t have the official numbers but there are dozens of women imprisoned, facing 15 years for having had an abortion)

institutions as corrupt as the metropolitan police co-opted this movement, politicians who make money off the exploitation of aboriginal and immigrant women co-opted this movement, and just last night i had to fight like twenty people in facebook because the world is full of imbeciles, but a million (or maybe more) people marched and maybe this will lead to a change. i’m hopeful.

( theme oo1, created by * indielcve * ) ( prev, code )

  • this theme was created for the intent of being used for an indie blog, but it can be used as whatever your heart desires !!
  • there’s a pop-up muses page, where icons are 100px / 100px ( and will resize if any bigger ), and the info/photos for that must be edited in the HTML, but everything should be easy enough to customize how you’d like it.
  • to have the pop-up separated into main / secondary / etc. muses ( example ), just use this code instead of the one up there. :)
  • contains: option for tags and captions to be hidden & infinite scroll.
  • creditsicons & icon template will be posted as a pack on this blog soon.
  • i would very much appreciate if you would please like or reblog if using !! :*
