My life... fuck... beautiful mess...

Just to answer all the questions in my inbox in one go:

Just because a website insists that ABC is going to renew Castle, that doesn’t make it true. No one has made any decision, nor are they likely to do so until after next week when they’ve viewed pilots and decided which of those to pick up. That will determine how many spots are left in the lineup and it Castle gets one of them.

Likewise, in my own personal viewpoint that none of you have to share or even agree with, I think it’s pretty crappy that people are actively rooting for the show to be cancelled. I get we want a happy ending, just like I understand that people don’t want the show to continue without Beckett, but look, you can stop watching if it goes forward. You can pretend season eight or the season seven finale is the end of the show without demanding that people lose their jobs because you personally are unhappy.

And if it’s this sudden fandom certainty that Beckett is going to be killed (even including this Deadline blurb that I cannot find that apparently confirms the cliffhanger is Beckett and Castle in dire straights) then I’ll just remind everyone that is fan supposition and I doubt anyone has made a decision about what they are going to do to write her out. And any ideas being tossed around could change between now and when it comes time to film; assuming they even get that far.

If you want to do something, let ABC know how you feel. That is far more productive than just hopping online and freaking out. Fans have power, and if you want a happy ending for Castle and Beckett it’s your job to tell the network that. Cause there is still time for that, especially if the show gets another season. Demand everyone involved put on their creative hats and find someway to resolve this thing. Complaining to me isn’t going to do any good beyond maybe making you feel better (which is fine, I’m all for that). Being a voice in the fandom is great, and while I know people around the show look at my blog (hey y'all!), they are merely one piece of the puzzle. ABC and ABC Studios carries the majority of the power, and I don’t expect Channing Dungey, Patrick Moran, and Disney CEO Ben Sherwood are scrolling my blog to take the temperature of the fandom. So it’s our job to take the message to them, to make sure they understand how we feel. Do that. Be a voice, let yourself be heard.

Amen.

I would also recommend that any message you send to ABC be short and sweet and to the point. As wonderful as a long letter in which you explain how much Caskett means to you is, executives at a network won’t see that long message. Even the intern that is assigned to read stuff like that isn’t going to read the whole thing. Short and sweet and to the point works best in these kinds of situations.

That’s why the coffee sleeve campaign is perfect. Coffee is important to Caskett, the message on those sleeves is short, and the visual impact of tons of sleeves hitting ABC is great.

Rather then distract from what was an amazing experience, I would just like to say that I’m very grateful to ABC for giving me the opportunity to be a part of a much beloved show. Thank you to the fans.
