RE:ACTIVISM

as a person who considers every possible angle of everything before i engage in Doing anything, i acknowledge that altho it has its upsides (i’ve avoided a lot of bullshit), we can spend our whole lives critically thinking bout everything under the sun but if we don’t eventually say “ok i don’t kno everything but that’s okay, i kno enough to do this at least, and it’s okay to make mistakes bc that’s also how i will learn to do better” we will never get anything done.

especially in combination w mentalewness etc u can critically think urself into downward spirals of hopelessness, paralysis, DOOM n demotivation.

& on the flip side u can work way beyond ur capacity n burn out if you aren’t careful, n that’s not helpful to anyone.

i understand these feelings v well, but look we hav so many ppl to thank for making it super easy for us, to figure out what to do and when. there r so many options for Doing rn, accomodating for everyone’s capacity & schedule! yay! every role big and small is SOMETHING towards SOMETHING n that MATTERS.

im super guilty of all this in every facet of my life lol i’m talking to myself as much as i’m talking to you. let’s get better at balancing our think:do:rest:play ratios togethrrr. ITS NOT EASY under a system that purposely robs us of our energy by forcing us to work to survive, rendering us too disoriented to fight it.

we want SUSTAINABLE ACTIVISM based in hope n INTEGRITY n patience n GENUINE CARE. BC THIS IS FOR THE LOOOOOONG RUN. bullying people into guilt-motivated activism breeds short-lived performatism, which is so fking unsustainable. sorry but if you’ve been in this long enough you’ve seen these patterns over and over again.

Takahashi Hiroaki (Shotei), Playing with a Cat, 1930.

This is listed as Takahashi Hiroshi but I know of know such artist and think it must be Takahashi Hiroaki Takahashi Hiroaki (Shotei) was born on January 2, 1871, in Tokyo with the given name of Takahashi Katsutaro. He was trained in Nihonga - traditional Japanese painting - by his uncle Matsumoto Fuko. In the literature the artist is usually called Takahashi Shotei or just Shotei.
