Emergency! What Trump/Pence Victory Means For Women.  New York City - Wed - Nov 30 - 7pm

Forum featuring Sunsara Taylor, writer forRevolution Newspaper* Other speakers TBA at Revolution Books 437 Malcolm X Blvd. @132nd St. 2,3 to 135th St. - 212-691-3345 Trump is a walking embodiment of rape culture - bragging about sexual assault, crudely degrading and insulting women and girls. Pence is a Christian fascist theocrat determined to criminalize abortion, deny birth control, and legalize bigotry against LGBT people. Together, their victory represents an unprecedented threat against women. They must be met with massive, determined resistance.

In the Name of Humanity, We REFUSE To Accept a Fascist America

  • Rise Up...
  • Get Into The Streets...
  • Unite With People Everywhere to Build Up Resistance in Every Way You Can
  • Don’t Stop:
  • Don’t Conciliate...
  • Don’t Accommodate...
  • Don’t Collaborate
We are all deeply outraged by recent horrific developments and want to share with you this urgent message which was posted on revcom.us, 11/9/2016. Heed its call in every way you can. Download a pdf of this statement here. Reproduce and distribute this widely.  There is so much at stake for women and all of humanity.

Donald Trump has now won the presidency. Under the slogan “Make America Great Again,” he has viciously attacked Mexicans and Muslims, threatened to deport millions and boasted that he will build walls and close borders. He incites people to fear and hate those who are “different,” or who come from other countries or nationalities, or practice different religions. He crudely demeans and degrades women, and openly boasts about molesting them. He’s a champion of white supremacy who has insulted and threatened Black people, and whipped up a racist lynch-mob mentality. Trump has mocked the disabled. He is an aggressive and unapologetic militarist, who threatens to use nuclear weapons and will have his fingers on the nuclear codes. He openly advocates war crimes and crimes against humanity—including torture and killing the families of people accused of terrorism. He plans to pack the Supreme Court with justices who will gut and reverse the right to abortion, gay rights, and other important legal rights. He calls climate change a hoax and his policies will wreak further devastation on the environment. He has attacked and threatened the press and stirred up his supporters to do the same. Trump has utter contempt for facts and the truth, and consistently lies to advance his agenda. As for the rule of law, Trump went so far as to openly threaten his opponent, Hillary Clinton, not only with jail, but even assassination. Donald Trump is an outright fascist. And he is now the president-elect.

Fascism is a very serious thing. Fascism foments and relies on xenophobic nationalism, racism, and the aggressive reinstitution of oppressive “traditional values.” Fascism feeds on and encourages the threat and use of violence to build a movement and come to power. Fascism, once in power, essentially eliminates traditional democratic rights. Fascism attacks, jails, and executes its opponents, and launches violent mob attacks on “minorities.” In Nazi Germany in the 1930s and ’40s, under Hitler, fascism did all these things. They imprisoned millions in concentration camps and exterminated millions of Jews, Roma people (Gypsies), and other “undesirables.” And Hitler did almost all of this through the established institutions and the “rule of law.” This is where this goes. And yes, Hitler himself could “talk graciously” when he felt it would serve his interests and lull his opponents.

Trump did not even win the popular vote, (even though he did win the “electoral college” which decides elections in the U.S.). Hitler himself came to power through democratic procedures, including through the process of elections. Should people have accepted Hitler?! Unfortunately, they did, at a horrific cost to humanity. Today, with nuclear weapons, that cost could be far higher.

In the name of humanity, we must refuse to accept a fascist America!

The fact that Trump won as many votes as he did must be understood. The fact that he got more than even 10 percent of the vote is disgraceful and reveals some very ugly things about America. So why did this happen? The world today is turbulent, full of changes. Those who supported Trump’s fascist program were overwhelmingly sections of white people, especially but not only white men, who yearn for the days of open white supremacy and American global domination, and the blatant subjugation of women. A significant minority of white people did oppose him, but we have to confront how deep the racism, the national chauvinism, and the hatred of women is woven into this society... and not give in to this, but vigorously challenge and fiercely oppose it.

But even more than this, Trump was backed by powerful forces in this society. Beyond those who directly supported him, the media, the Democratic Party, and others treated him as a legitimate candidate, refused to call him out as the fascist he is, and now call on everyone to accept his ascension to power. All the major powerful forces in this society bear the responsibility—it is they who have, over decades, either built up this fascist force or have “enabled” it.

You cannot try to “wait things out” with fascists. Those who lived through Hitler’s Germany and sat on the sidelines, looking on as Hitler rounded up one group after another, became shameful collaborators with monstrous crimes against humanity. Trump and his regime must be resisted and defied, beginning now, in many different ways and in every corner of society.

Reconciliation and collaboration would be nothing less than criminal and deadly. Literally. Come together... resist... and let the whole world know that we will not allow this to stand!

In the Bay Area? Come together with Cal students and others tomorrow evening to experience Trapped -- the new, heart-wrenching documentary that reveals the reality of the attacks on abortion, providers, and women. Meet others who are concerned and looking for a way to act.

The Supreme Court will determine, before June, whether or not this patriarchal offensive on the humanity of women will be legitimized, and unfettered to sweep the nation, or mitigated for the time being. Trump can get up in front of the nation and say that women should be punished for getting abortions, and stay solidly in the running for president. People everywhere are being taught that a woman is a vessel, an object, property to be regulated, and already there are TRAP laws in place in many states, and police and courts and prisons backing them up. Learn what is happening and what is at stake, and take responsibility to change the course of history. If not now, when?

URGENT CALL from Stop Patriarchy: Be in Wash DC - Wed March 2 - Stand up for Abortion Rights

Don't sit this one out.  Be in Wash DC this Wed, March 2 and stand up for abortion rights at the U.S. Supreme Court.   Join the Rally to Protect Abortion Access 8am to noon as HB2 — Texas's abortion clinic shutdown law — is argued before the Supreme Court.  The case, "Whole Woman's Health v. Hellerstedt" is the most important abortion case in decades.

The Rally to Protect Abortion Access is being called by The Center for Reproductive Rights whose attorneys are arguing the case before the Court.   If the Court votes to uphold HB2, all but 9 or 10 abortion providers in the whole state of Texas will close and this will be a go-ahead for similar draconian "TRAP" laws* which have already been enacted in other states to go into effect, and lead to many more clinic closures.  On Friday, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit upheld a similar law to take effect in Louisiana. This will shut down all but one abortion clinic in the entire state of Louisiana. That means seven states with only one clinic left.**

The fate of abortion rights is being decided and women's lives are at stake.  We cannot leave women's fundamental rights to the "wisdom of the courts."  Without access to safe, legal abortion services, the right to abortion becomes empty.   Without this basic right, women cannot be free.

We must change the terms by telling the truth:  Fetuses are NOT babies. Abortion is NOT murder.  Women are NOT incubators. Women need Abortion On Demand and Without Apology!

We must be in the streets and wage massive, public, uncompromising, political resistance.

We must rely on ourselves – and mobilize the outrage of others – to STOP THIS WAR ON WOMEN.

Forced motherhood is female enslavement.

Look for our orange ABORTION ON DEMAND & WITHOUT APOLOGY signs and join STOP PATRIARCHY at the Rally.   contact: StopPatriarchy@gmail.com

* TRAP laws -- "Targeted Regulation of Abortion Providers"  -- laws which impose medically unnecessary and burdensome regulations on abortion providers,  but not other medical services. The clear purpose of such laws is to drive abortion doctors out of practice, make abortion care more difficult and more expensive to obtain, and force abortion clinics to close.

** States with only 1 abortion clinic left:  North Dakota, South Dakota, Mississippi, Wyoming, Arkansas, Montana and now, Louisiana.

12 memorable moments

Throughout this past year, Stop Patriarchy has been on the front lines.  On the streets, on campus, on the airwaves and in the community, fighting for women's fundamental rights, telling the truth and drawing more people forward.   As we say in our Call to Action, we're out to "challenge the new generation in particular to reject this culture of rape and pornography, to resist the shaming of women who have sex and/or abortions, to wage fierce cultural and political resistance to wake others up, and to celebrate, fight for, and win the full equality and liberation of women." ...to End Pornography & Patriarchy: the Enslavement and Degradation of Women!

Take a look...

1. January 22 & 23, 2015:  For the first time ever, the anti-abortion March for "Life" a/k/a March for Forced Motherhood, was brought to a halt for nearly one hour when Stop Patriarchy led people into the streets in Washington DC on the anniversary of Roe v. Wade.

3.  February 28, 2015 - Stop Patriarchy in NYC protested at Pornhub's (largest porn site in the world) film festival in Brooklyn.  We called this out as a further step in the mainstreaming of pornography, even as pornography becomes ever more violent, cruel, dehumanizing, degrading, and humiliating towards women.

4.  March 8, 2015 - International Women's Day  Bold actions in L.A., New York, San Francisco, Seattle, Cleveland

8. July 2015:  We called on people to "Take Patriarchy by Storm" and set up "Stop the War on Women" displays on city streets and neighborhoods. Pics below are from Houston & San Francisco

9. August 2015:  We brought two dozen people to Jackson to stand with the last abortion clinic in Mississippi and fight for Abortion on Demand & Without Apology. In the heart of the Bible belt we rallied, went into the community to spread our new "A Fetus is NOT A Baby" brochure, livestreamed a People's Hearing, protested at a Hooters for objectifying women, and honored the brave clinic staff and defenders at Jackson Women's Health Organization, aka "The Pink House."

10. Sept. 24, 2015:  We responded to Pope Francis' announcement that women who apologize for their abortions will be "forgiven," by holding a "Procession of Unrepentent Women" when the Pope came to NYC - and delivered an indictment of the Catholic Church to St. Patrick’s Cathedral for crimes against women.

11. Nov. 28 & 29:  Immediately responding to the murderous attack by an anti-abortion gunman at Planned Parenthood in Colorado, Sunsara Taylor, writer for Revolution Newspaper & initiator of Stop Patriarchy, called for people to protest in the streets.
