whoops i vanished again

before my brain short circuits again from this fever and i forget for another month (winter sucks i take back everything i said about hating summer)

i’m going to aim to retire this blog and put any information you could need on my website

my memory is just getting too poor to keep up and i no longer keep bundles of snails. i’m sticking with my tarantulas and cacti and that’ll be it

basically i struggle to remember things, pretty much anything and everything, and that makes pet care hard when they need daily attention

whereas my spiders want me to piss off and take personal offense when i fill their water dishes so they don’t need someone to annoy them regularly and they also don’t produce mountains of waste and mold

now this is going to require me finishing my website and at the rate i’m going i’ll be 90 by the time that happens but if you need help with anything

i suppose most blogs would go on about how great it was and stuff but

i can’t remember lol

i’m glad i could help people and show that snails are great little critters and more than just squishy garden pests

i’ll make a post when the site is ready to go and stuff in like 50 centuries

second thing: i’m going to attempt to finish finalizing website revamp, might take a while. fortunately i have enough money to pay the latest bill on it so it won’t be going anywhere for a long while yet

i’ve been real busy lately, room is being torn down so i’m sleeping in a tiny room with god knows what stacked up everywhere and i also got a new laptop so i’m still putting things in to place

i have NO idea when i received any of the asks i have bc tumblr sucks like that but i hope they help at least somewhat

i’m afraid i don’t know, but for future reference, health stores often sell pumpkin seeds and they’re pretty cheap on ebay

snails spend a lot of time sleeping, if they don’t eat after a few days then you need to wake them up manually (pull them off very gently and poke them a bit)

if they have parasites you can remove yourself, you’ll see them. they’ll be crawling around their breathing pore and you’ll need to wash them out under the tap

snail won’t like it one bit, but they can hold their breath for a long time and you don’t want parasites festering in their shell

other infections: don’t have the foggiest. not really any snail vet stuff out there other than DIY and praying to the snail god

if your snail isn’t behaving normally, you can assume that they need checking over. bites mean they need new tank mates, parasites need quarantine, if their organs are coming out of their head you need alcohol, a needle and a strong stomach

sometimes a snail can prolapse through their mouth and it’s pretty hideous. a proven way of potentially (it’s been documented by the person who tried it) fixing it is to pierce the mass with a sterilized needle to relieve the pressure

medical grade works best but alcohol and a sewing needle will do in a pinch

it might work, it might not, depending on what caused the extrusion, but it’s worth a try in a life-or-death situation for the snail

Hi! sorry it’s been awful busy at my house lately, haven’t had much time to finish setting up my new laptop. another snail around his size would be perfect

remember to crush any eggs memo produces and inspect EVERYTHING you remove from the tank for eggs or babies. snails are crafty little buggers

i recommend that you look up a visual guide to slugs/snails in your state, and go from there. there should be pdfs or scans with gastropods for every state, if you’re lucky you might find a large species you can collect outside

otherwise you can try places like bugs in cyber space, they do a lot of different bugs. i’m sure there’s people following me that can recommend US invert sellers, i don’t track them personally since i’m in the UK

They can escape easily, depending on what kind of lid you use. Hungry or determined snails can force through clingfilm, but if you have a clip-on lid they can’t brute-force their way to freedom.

Snails do poop, everything has to remove waste from the body one way or another. I’m afraid they also poop an awful lot, but it’s generally only a small amount since snails are pretty tiny.

found a large yellow underwing caterpillar yesterday which is now living next to my bed and enjoying a shitload of lettuce

it’s starting to heat up so remember to leave out plastic plant pots and tubs for insects and snails to hide in while the sun is out!
