AITA For Not Tagging a Work?

I, 32F, write primarily for my own enjoyment, my main platform being AO3. I currently have a multi-chaoter series that includes several major plot twists, including one that includes non-con. To avoid spoiling it, because I believe my stories deserve to be read with as little background info as possible, I only tag it as "Creator CHOSE not to Include Archive Warnings". Which is, as I hope is obvious, is not synonymous with "There Are No Warnings". The point is, I don't use the Rape/Non-con tag. Recently, I got a very upset reader in my comments complaining about how triggering that chapter of my work is, and that's where I have a problem. I believe the corporate obsession content warnings pervading even fanworks to be a major problem. I don't want to sanitize my work, but I do get that they contain pretty heavy themes. But I feel like I seriously do give my stories a disservice by adding labels on them, and maybe I am the asshole for this, but I value my pride and joy (my work) over strangers online. AITA?

I am surprises at the amount of YTAs on here omfg

Look at it this way, everyone. Imagine you walk into a DVD store, and you notice a DVD case that is just white except for the title and director. No picture on the front, no blurb, no genre. And you ask worker there "hey, what's up with this?" And they say "oh, it's meant to be a surprise, you can see the title and who it's by, but you don't actually know what you're getting." And then you go home, pop it in the player, and find out it's a scary horror movie.

You had every warning that you would NOT know what's in it. You can't get mad because you chose to understand "it's a surprise" as "nursery rhymes for toddlers dvd".

"Creator chose to not to include archive warnings" is exactly this warning: that you don't know what you'll be getting.

NTA!

The amount of YTA scares me. If anything triggers you badly, avoid any fic without warnings.

"Creator chose not to use warnings" basically means that one of the archive's usual warnings WILL apply, but the writer doesn't want to spoil what will probably be a plot twist, a plot twist where its being unexpected and shocking is probably important to the story. NTA. They tagged properly.

Surrealist Edward James, was so besotted with his wife, the dancer Tilly Losch, that when he saw the trail of wet footprints she left up the stairs after her bath at Monkton House, he had them woven into the carpet.

i miss free the nipple i miss it so fucking much. genuinely i think its such a shame that such a simple yet important feminist issue is just.. forgotten now. heres a pro tip: make more art of women with their breasts out just existing and dont you dare censor it or tag it as nsfw. you can fight against the demonization of womens bodies one boob at a time

FUCK. two boobs at a time.

Do you guys remember how kidnap fantasies were popular on wattpad because young girls and queer teens were both made to feel shame at the thought of their own sexualities, so the fantasy of being kidnapped totally against their will was a way for them to engage with a romantic or sexual fantasy without feeling morally in the wrong for doing so? Added bonus that the fantasy involved being whisked away from repressive environments like home or school, right?

Finding out that Bram Stoker was in a sexless marriage and that scholars believe that he very likely was closeted gay puts the entire book into perspective as to WHY it reads EXACTLY like a self insert wattpad Dracula kidnap fic:

“I TOTALLY love my wife and would never do anything that an upstanding Good Straight Working Man wouldn’t do but oh nooo, big strong man with broad back and strong enough arms to carry me back to bed like a princess trapped me and claimed me as his, completely against my will 👉👈 But he protects me against the bad evil sexual women (who I assure you, I am TOTALLY sexually attracted to, as any straight man with a choice would be) but trust me, I do NOT want ANY of this. What’s that? The Count is not capable of feeling love? Would be a shame if I had the special ability to change tha-”

This is also the fantasy behind all those old bodice-ripper romances that people today like to mock or call problematic, by the way.

“Oh, my next forty years are going to consist of nothing but washing dishes and keeping house and bearing children for the disdainful man I married right out of high school because my parents said college was for men and I had no other obvious life path open to me? What if a pirate captain thought I was worth stealing away from it all? [what if I ran away but no-one could blame me for leaving]?”
