On December 10th I got into a car accident and my only means of transportation was totaled.

A few weeks prior was when the problems began. On coming home from Thanksgiving with my family, the front tire shredded and the rubber pulled all the wires out of the front of my car and left me stranded in a small remote town in between. I spent hundreds of dollars with a mechanic on both getting the wires “fixed”, a new set of tires to stop a slow leak in in the rear, and consultation on replacing my transmission. The mechanic told me after working on it, all of this was perfectly fine but as I drove home that morning, I realized the opposite.

About an hour away from home on the highway, the radio shut off and my blinkers and windshield wipers both came on shortly after and wouldn’t turn off. The battery light also popped on from what I’m assuming was an electrical issue from the wires that were “perfectly fine”. I continued to drive until I could make it to the toll booth and pull over off of the highway. As I approached it, my car continues to malfunction and begins sliding diagonally as I’m attempting to break, eventually smashing into the divider at the toll booth. The impact spun toward oncoming traffic but luckily there were not a lot of cars coming.

I actually had to leave the car with the towing company to pay for the towing and storing fees, with all of its problems it wouldn’t have been worth it to repair it. Physically, I am fine. However, my only means of transportation is totaled and I live in a very small town where there isn’t a reasonable schedule for public transportation that fits my work hours so having a car is a necessity.

As a 23-year-old woman being able to support myself is a top priority, and I’ve managed to balance two jobs in doing so. The following week I spent $18-25 on Uber’s back and forth to work daily but most of the money I made at work was spent on getting to work. This past week I’ve lost both of those jobs in the wake of this situation due to my lack of transportation/availability during the holidays season.

I’m starting this fundraiser in hopes that it will help me finance a good working vehicle, nothing fancy. My car was a little over $2000 and in the past month I’ve spent a total of close to $800 on new tires, mechanical work, and roadside assistance/towing. I’ve been spent most of the saved money on trying to save this car and my work in the process. Please help by sharing this and sending whatever you’d like if anything; Everything is gratefully appreciated as I need all the help I can get. I just really hope to get something safe and reliable to get me back and forth so I can continue to look for more work outside of under the table jobs. Thank you.
