self-destruction doesn’t always look like taking too many pills or cutting your skin open. sometimes it’s drinking coffee when you know caffeine gives you panic attacks. sometimes it’s crossing the street without looking both ways. sometimes it’s showering with the water a little too hot. sometimes it’s avoiding eye contact with your reflection in the mirror or ridiculing your problems rather than addressing them. sometimes it’s walking out without sunscreen in scorching heat and not wearing enough when it’s freezing out. self destruction isn’t always physical mutilation, mostly it’s masked as little things so never assume what someone may be going through just bc they don’t show you visible signs of suffering.

Why do people make Reyes an abusive rough jerk? Especially to McCree?

Reaper is a good person who got fucked over way too many times and is bitter and salty about that. He may be a sarcastic asshole, but he’s not an abusive jerk.

i still think d.va is cool but what i liked about her was “d.va, beloved esports professional and charismatic entertainer” and that seems to have been displaced by “d.va, dorito gremlin” and then “d.va, the literal infant daughter of the other characters” so there’s not much quality d.va content of the sort i’m interested in floating across my dashboard these days

like d.va’s in-game characterization seems haughty, immature, and incredibly cocky, but sometimes she seems like the FUCKASS KARKAT™ of the overwatch fandom. d.va is a national celebrity, streams herself fighting giant robots, apparently built a starcraft career on playing random (!!!!!!!!), has appeared in bad movies, and says dumb memes as she jumps out of her exploding MEKA and runs away before it kills her, too (well, before the patch).

this is a really good post n like i dont wanna add unwarranted fake meta or w/e but its especially jarring to me as a korean girl seeing this mountain dew gremlin content and im absolutely sure that its almost entirely racialized

like..the treatment of her sport is super humiliating and like ofc gaming culture is absolutely fuckin ridiculous but theres a huge difference between the reception it receives in western n korean cultures wrt those competitions and this is coming frm someone w family members who were like..legit starcraft competitors like dva

fareeha & satya are both probably huge geeks 4 the technology of their time, given that its so integral 2 their livelihoods & their identities as Callsign Pharah and Callsign Symmetra respectively but their preferred mediums – hard light, which is sleek and visually elegant but almost gives the impression that it’d let you fall right through it if it so chose, on hand & the more traditional, unruly construction of the raptora suit on the other – represent different things & i like to think theyd be locked in kind of an affectionate rivalry over which tech serves what purpose better.

 satya is equal parts charmed and concerned by the make the raptora suit – such power! such majesty! such tragic fuel inefficiency! she theorizes ways she could augment it – make it fly longer, land more safely, fire more accurately, incinerate bullets before they have a chance to harm the inimitable woman inside – more for sport than anything. fareeha appreciates the thought, but she’s always liked things that are sturdy and secure and visibly, physically, tangibly Real above all else, and besides shes always liked to think she functions best in danger. She Gets It From Mom. anyways they have all sorts of friendly, spirited mechanibabble debates in the middle of the mess hall from time to time, lindholm tries to get involved, later satya sits on the sidelines to watch fareeha run repairs on her raptora and is all like 😳, etc.

also this all takes place in some projected headfanon timeline wherein symmetra defects, very unsteadily, from vishkar in a long moment of crisis goes on the run carrying some valuable Intel and a lot of doubts & falls in w. Overwatch Nouveau. but thats all boring plot stuff

Stop making moodboards and aesthetic posts that don’t have a single woman of color in them. 

Stop saying things such as “only true lesbians/bisexual women are fans of shows like The X Files or fans of white female celebrities like Gillian Anderson or Alycia Debnam Carey”. 

Stop expecting lesbian, pansexual, bisexual, and queer women of color to consume the same media you as white women-loving women do. Stop expecting them to put up with white-dominated wlw spaces and wlw content. Stop being deliberately or unconsciously exclusive when you write humorous posts or community-centered posts. 

Any wlw space that is racist is exclusive and unsafe. Not every wlw is white. Women of color who are also lesbian, pansexual, queer, or bisexual are subject to the intersections of white supremacy and homophobia, particularly if they are black and/or trans. Stop fawning over racist media and racist celebrities in the name of “representation”. Stop upholding white wlw characters over women-loving female characters of color. 

Stop mourning white wlw characters while simultaneously praising the brutal deaths of black lesbians and other sapphic woc characters. Stop forgetting that immigrant wlw, wlw who are refugees and who are fleeing war and persecution, and wlw who have not grown up with Eurocentric cultural norms will adhere to the same things white wlw adhere to. 

Stop prioritizing media representation over the safety and wellbeing of the most marginalized members of the wlw community, aka women of color. Start paying attention to them. Frankly, wlw spaces that are racist, antiblack, and imperialistic are useless and serve no purpose in healing, solidarity, or community building.
