I just saw Spider-Verse again and, y’all. There are so many, so many, things I love about this movie, but what I think makes me enjoy it the most is how freaking effortless Spider-Man is. We finally get to see how athletic, how creative and how strong Spider-Man can be. Every other portrayal we’ve seen from the original Trilogy, to the Amazing Spider-man, to Spider-man in the MCU has to rely on actors who aren’t really acrobats or athletes. Sure we get CGI, but there’s something about this animation - it’s so acrobatic and incredible, but they all do it without a second thought. Peter B. Parker is tired and worn down, but he can still do everything with so much ease. Chris Pine’s Peter Parker stops a giant rotating machine 100x his size with just one arm. I’ve always loved Spider-Man, but now I feel like we finally get to see that he really is just as powerful, if not way more so, than any other superhero.

Most of the intelligence community doesn’t believe he exists, the ones who do call him the Winter Soldier. He’s credited with over two dozen assassinations in the last fifty years. So, he’s a ghost story.
