he's not really that sorry for only half listening to whatever the person next to him is saying. oops.
There was an unexpected delay, and Rin’s patience was growing so thin already. He wasn’t one that liked waiting, and this was dragging on far too long already. He now remembered that he not only hated travel because of the less than likeable people, but it took a lot of time and patience that he didn’t have. It was only a matter of time before Haru found out, but he diffidently did not expect for the other male to find out the day of his leave, or to wind up finding him before he was out of the country— on the plane, at least.
Less than gentle pull on his arm has his vein popping, temper flaring up, and he turns around, ready to give the person an ear lashing, when all the blood in his body runs cold. “What’re ya doin’ here, Haru—” cut off by the exact same question, just directed at him with more vile than he’d heard in Haruka’s voice in a long time. “… ‘M goin’ back t’Australia t’study abroad.” Why did he have to find out. “I feel like it’s the right thing for me— the right course o’ action.”
Lies; he didn’t know why he was going. Explaining to Haruka he was going on a whim would most likely result in a fight. Then again, a fight might be inevitable at this point.

he intones, faintly, voice weak. the swirling { unease } in his gut is something that has become increasingly familiar to him since rin had come back from australia the first time, and it's just as unwelcome as it was then, even more so now. nausea twists in a hot coil in the pit of his stomach, fists balling at his sides. he has known rin for so long, now; does he think he's stupid? he's insulted, really, and ivories grit as he narrows blue eyes. ' you're not a very graceful kind of liar. what are you doing here? ' there was no way to avoid a fight at this point; it was bubbling to the surface, the anger; it was choking him, lacing his words with a kind of venom he didn't even know he was capable of. ' the right course of action? for what? ' narrowed eyes zero in on rin's clenched fists at his sides, and haruka fists his fingers tighter in the cloth of his jacket. ' what are you trying to accomplish by running away? ' again, he almost adds, and it hovers at the tip of his tongue, near- poisonous.

Plot 84: Whispering Woods
Muse A lives in a small town just a stone’s throw away from a dense forest, called the Whispering Woods. Every afternoon, especially in the fall, when the leaves are changing color and the air is crisp, Muse A likes to walk through the woods on their way home. Muse A sits on the kissing rock at the mouth of the woods, straps up their boots and inhales the fresh pine before embarking on the winding path to the log bridge. As Muse A crosses the log bridge, one foot over the over, they enjoy the soft ‘whispers’ (for which the woods are named after) of the meandering creek below. The whispers always seem louder in October for some reason, almost comprehensible. Townspeople like to say it’s because the woods are haunted by spirits, but Muse A’s never been the superstitious type. They’ve been frequenting the woods since they were a kid and nothing spooky has ever happened to them before.
One afternoon, Muse A encounters Muse B in the thick of the towering pines. Muse B looks lost and disheveled, as if they haven’t had a shower or a proper meal in a few days. Concerned for the unfamiliar wanderer, Muse A offers to guide Muse B out of the woods, back to civilization. Muse B instead asks Muse A to stay with them a while; they want to visit the log bridge, their favorite place. Muse A can see that Muse B is the lonely sort, so they agree to walk to the bridge with Muse B; they were headed there anyway. When the pair arrive at the bridge, Muse B struggles to recall why they found this spot so special, or anything about who they are at all to make conversation with Muse A, but they can’t remember. Muse A insists on helping Muse B leave the woods, worried that Muse B might be suffering from amnesia or something worse, but when Muse A gets to the edge of the woods, Muse B, who they thought was right behind them, is nowhere to be found.
Muse A calls out for Muse B for several minutes and gets no response. The sun is going down and the chill in the air is biting through Muse A’s coat, so they go home. They barely sleep that night, thinking about Muse B and hoping they’re alright, wherever they are. Bright and early the next morning, Muse A returns to the woods, hoping to find Muse B again. Muse B is there at the foot of the log bridge, waiting for Muse A, unsure of how they got there or what’s keeping them bound to these woods. Muse B is a ghost, but doesn’t know it.

When Haru doesn’t resist, he shifts, so only his arm is wrapped around his shoulders — though it’s still far too close a position, and his grasp is still tight enough that the swimmer is unable to escape. A victory.
”How’s it going?”
' yeah. ' he says, stiffly.
it's only after the words leave his mouth that he realizes that they don't make any sense whatsoever, and nearly drives his palm clear through his skull. or he would've, had kisumi slackened his grip further. so he settles for giving kisumi the stinkiest eye imaginable.
