Crows donβt just remember the faces of the people who wronged them. They also remember those who were kind. They tell each other who to look after and who to watch out for.

SHADOW AND BONE (2021-)
shadow and bone and racism
shadow and bone just came out so i can now finally break my silence bc holy shit do they go ham on the racism and me being me, i just have to tell you all about it. possible spoilers and triggers for anti-asian racism and microaggressions.
to preface, i was very privileged to receive a screener for the entire first season last month and i was actually excited to watch it bc i have friends who love the books and the show piqued my interest since it was announced. and i also have to say that i never read the books and i probably never will ( tho iβve been told i would like soc ) but i did like the show overall.Β
i think sab is a good adaptation and that the fans will like this show. i thoroughly enjoyed it and as someone who had very little to almost no knowledge about the books, i didnβt have trouble keeping up with the fantastical world.Β
however that doesnβt mean i canβt be critical of it.Β
i think the show can actually benefit from people being critical about it because so far, it feels like they took a very tone deaf direction and ran a marathon with it.Β
what iβm talking about, is alina starkov being half-shu.Β

Thank you for saving me. You did the same for me. And if we stayed together, I doubt it would be the last time.

You know one of the things I absolutely love about the Shadow & BoneΒ adaptation?Β We never see Kazβs bare hands.Β In all of his outfits and all of his disguises, he wears his gloves.Β Even that scene at the beginning when he washes his hands, the camera pans upward right as he slips his gloves off so we never see the bare skin.Β Itβs a brilliant and subtle cinematographic choice to hint at his trauma and shows the showrunners really put thought into translating these characters from the books to the screen.
kaz brekker really was like fuck the sun summoner, inej is the only saint i believe in and he is so valid for that.

SHADOW AND BONE | 1.08 No Mourners
I feel bad because as much as people rightfully give parts of Doctor Who shit it really does have some of the most profound quotes that I have ever come across.
Like when Doctor Who is bad itβs pretty fucking bad but man, when itβs good? Itβs incredible.
Yβall can call me a basic bitch but the quoteΒ βIβve never met anyone who wasnβt important.β basically sums up my entire ethos.Β
And sometimes, confusingly, it does both at the same time. Like for example the episode βKill the Moonβ, which I HATE, but which gave us the line, βSometimes all the choices are bad ones, but you still have to choose.β
beth's little voice crack when she heard benny on the other line of the phone kills me ,, and that smile when the rest of them came on too, that's a girl who has been alone most of her life, and has gotten used to being alone and abandoned, who now realized that she isn't alone - she had alma, who did so much for her during the years they were together, she has jolene, who helped her get to russia, she has benny, who helped her train and train and was a worthy opponent, getting her to the top of her game, she has harry, who was one of her biggest supporters and helped her learn a great deal outside of chess, she has townes (whom this move redeemed a little in my eyes) who flew out to moscow to help support her and orchestrated the whole thing, she has matt and mike who were the first friends she made in the chess world
i just kinda melted, this is so wholesome
I donβt even know if Iβm good enough. Youβre the best there is. You beat me. Β Β Β Β Β Anya Taylor-Joy and Thomas Brodie-Sangster in THE QUEENβS GAMBIT (2020)
