I’m not really the best person to ask about this because I only know them by name and face so I know very little. But if you don’t mind a bit of spoiler,

AHHHH YOU’RE THE BEST! It’s such a relief to hear that they will be included, seriously. Ever since it was announced to be only 8 episodes I have been living in fear that the plot will get chopped in some way. I actually hope they don’t try to get to the end of the first half in such a short space of time. Are there any more details about the second season in this interview?

Here’s the source (interview with director Abe, script director Uesu, character designer Ogiso), but unfortunately they didn’t reveal any details about the story (e.g. which part of the novel they’re going to cover in season2, etc).
I can’t translate all of them since my English sucks, but here are some of their remarks that caught my attention:
Uesu: “This time, the spotlight is focused on Narsus, so I’d like his fans to look forward to it.”
Ogiso: [There were two types of design for the characters’ costumes in this season.] “In design B, Narsus was supposed to wear short pants and Farangis was supposed to be dressed even more lightly (lol).“
Ogiso: “In the new series, a lot of new characters will appear. They are very unique and attractive characters, especially Merlane and Princess Irina, so please look forward to them.”
Thanks again! Can you tell I’m desperate for any information about S2? WTF were they thinking with ‘design B’ though? NARSUS IN SHORTS. I mean I would be amused to see the concept art for it but thank goodness they didn’t go even more revealing for Farangis because that would be completely ridiculous.
I’m assuming they’re going to base the designs for Merlane, Irina and Jovana on the sketches that Hiromu Arakawa included in the Animation Works booklet, but it would be great to see them. The official Twitter mentioned that more of the new characters will be announced next week, so it could be them or it could be the characters from Gilan. Or if there are new characters apart from them I don’t know about it yet, lol.

A certain someone deciced to use strength inherited from her Zot father to buy some Elam-free time with Narsus. Arslan might have seen her as she did it and maybe thought it would be interesting to see Elam's reaction. Maybe.

I was playing around with my Arslan Senki models in DesignDoll and after I made Elam pose as an archer, I... wanted to see everyone doing it too?
Thought I’d try and see if I could make the models as their intended character and this doodle happened.
