A Cat's Collection

@cattsunami / cattsunami.tumblr.com

My name is Samantha, I have two cats that I love dearly. I also have a huge crush on Annie Clark.
I'm in love with a lot of things in this world, here I collect a few.

Yesterday at the foster clinic there was a woman with a litter of tiny, tiny kittens, one of whom was a beautiful orange and white creamsicle.  I told her, “I love orange boy cats, they are all so stupid.” and the foster mom said to me, with tears of love in her eyes, face glowing with maternal pride, “He is only 6 days old and I can already tell that he’s going to be so stupid!”

The making of  the original “Texas Chainsaw Massacre”

  • Since it had an extremely low budget, the movie was made within one month - for the duration of those four weeks, filming was constant for 12-16 hours per day, 7 days a week
  • It was filmed in the middle of the summer in central Texas, which means temperatures rose above 100 degrees daily, and the 1900s farmhouse it was filmed in had no cooling system or ventilation
  • It was especially excruciating for Gunnar Hansen who played Leatherface, because he wore a heavy wool suit with a latex mask every single day, for 16 hours straight
  • Actors’ costumes were never washed because they could not afford more costumes- the costume of the actress who played Sally, Marilyn Burns, was “solid” with stage blood by the end of filming
  • The cast stayed away from Hansen until their character was killed off- the scream when the character Jerry saw Leatherface was genuine because the actor hadn’t seen Hansen in costume yet.
  • The blood on the walls was real animal blood from a slaughterhouse
  • All of the dead animals in the film are real, they were decomposing roadkill collected in the countryside; the bones adorning the furniture are also real
  • The cast were all amateur actors from Texas
  • The infamous dinner scene was filmed in 27 straight hours- due to the intensity and stress, Marilyn Burns was genuinely terrified by the time the scene was finished
  • Sally’s blood in the dinner scene was Burns’ real blood after a stage blood prop failed, her finger was sliced with a razor
  • The iconic chainsaw was real and had the teeth on it for many of the scenes, causing a few close calls
  • No one in the cast left uninjured by the time filming was over
  • Leatherface was famously inspired by Ed Gein, but the villains were also inspired by Elmer Wayne Henley’s seemingly moral duality

“Why do you beat yourself up so much over little mistakes?”

This is such a good illustration of emotional abuse

Just a reblog to spread the most UN noticed abuse, be aware

and reminder for everyone to be patient with your loved ones who apologize constantly, or have a really emotional reaction to something that seems insignificant to you.

today at goodwill i found a kirk/spock au where kirk is a lowly redshirt

Okay no but this book.

Do you know how fucking long I hunted for a copy of the first edition of this book? I can’t remember the specifics, it’s been ages since I read it, but in the first edition it had some line that was basically confirming Kirk/Spock that was removed after the first printing.

oh my god are you telling me i found a piece of fandom history and i had no idea

I AM BACK AT GOODWILL AND IT’S STILL HERE AND IT’S A FIRST EDITION WITH GAY STUFF???? IT’S A DOLLAR?????? I’M

it starts out with wholesome hand-holding and boyfriends worrying about each other

they’re in an au now and kirk is an angry ensign with a drug problem

“being the top felt weird and wrong”

SOMETHING STIRRED INSIDE HIM

no matter the universe kirk can’t keep his shirt intact

THIS IS WHERE SHIT GETS REAL Y’ALL I CAN’T

THE MIND MELD IS BARELY EVEN A METAPHOR

KIRK WAS ASKING FOR IT

aaaaaaaaaaah

this is the best dollar i have ever spent and yes that includes bearllionaire

I’d heard about this as some sort of fandom urban legend - everyone heard about it, no one seemed to have hard copy. Nobody was sure if it was some unpublished fanfic, a first draft, vanity press, whatever.

And it’s real.

No one had a copy because Gene Roddenberry found out about the romantic undertones and forced Pocket Books to recall the first edition so that it could be drastically revised.

I have a one! Completely by luck. And by luck I mean I’ve checked every used book store for a original unedited copy since I was 15 but sometimes luck is just intense persistence that confuses your mom.

If anyone is so inspired the big tip off clue that you may be holding a original copy and not a revised reprint is if the front cover’s title is embossed.

Shoutout to people who can’t stand loud noise because of anxiety or sensory issues or chronic migraines and have to deal with people being unnecessarily loud all the time but can’t do or say anything about it because that’s “rude” and “ruining everyone’s good time”

well maybe a shoutout’s not the best idea but we appreciate the sentiment
