One of the most beautiful libraries in the world, a jewel of the late Baroque, the library of the Wiblingen monastery, Germany.

When David had woken up, Everard had sat waiting to greet him with a kiss and had suggested David to wear something comfortable for outside tonight. That he would be away for a little bit, but giving enough time for David to feed, get ready and linger at his leisure.

The crunch of the gravel underneath was a sound he had always enjoyed but often forgot about as years passed. But he told himself he would start doing this more often again.

He blew a hard whistle between his fingers for David to come look outside, as Everard sat perched on the tall, chocolate, Hanoverian horse. His riding gear was perhaps designed to old riding fashion, antique even, but as always perfectly tailored to fit his broad shoulders well and nothing but believable as something he would have worn in centuries past.

Next to him he held another Hanoverian, equally as stunning and well behaved as the one he was on. The second animal was saddled up too and waited patiently at Everard's side for David to ride with him.

Waking to Everard's kisses was always a pleasant way to start the evening and David was quite happy to follow his requests to the letter. Dressing comfortably for him still tended to look quite smart and so he was happy to wear his chosen outfit of trousers and a rather soft long sleeved t-shirt even on his hunt.

Afterwards, on the journey home, his mind drifted. He was deeply curious about what Everard could possibly have planned and, being unable to concentrate on much of anything else, he was pleased that the wait was not too long. He moved quickly outside at Everards return, laughing in delight at what he saw.

"All the possibilities I've imagined this evening and this didn't even enter my mind." He crossed the drive to join him with a comfortable ease, letting the horse sniff at his hand as he grinned up at Everard. "Where on earth did you find such beautiful horses?"

“You are making me look overdressed, David.“ he said with the utmost loftiness at regarding David’s choice of clothes, but never once disliking it. In fact, he loved seeing David in this attire perhaps as much as his cleaned-up outfits, merely for the sheer joy of surprise. And besides that, Everard had made it quite an art for himself to look overdressed wherever he went and would never see such a thing as a negative. On the contrary. “You look good.“ he affirmed calmly, as David approached the horse. Everard made sure to keep the reins of the unmanned horse in his hand, until his lover would have mounted the animal. “They are retired dressage horses.“ he explained. “Good for at least a few more years and tended to by a few students down in Agostoli. I purchased them a month ago.“ he handed David the reins. “She’s yours.“

"I think I am always looking quite underdressed in comparison to you darling. But you did say to dress comfortably." He let one hand stroke slowly over the horses nose, finding it quite surprising that the animals didn't seem at all spooked by them. He was very much assuming that Everard must have borrowed them for the evening, which was a wonderful gesture in itself. But he was truly shocked to hear that he had purchased them.

Now their temperament made sense, they had clearly learned to trust Everard. "A month ago?" He repeated, and he looked between Everard and the animals in amazement. He hadn't suspected anything in all that time and now he was quite overcome with emotion. "You never cease to surprise me."

He took the reins and, with a final laugh and shake of his head, he flicked them carefully back over the horses head and climbed up into the saddle.

"I'm glad. Wait till you see me do gymnatics." he joked, but with a satisfied grin, quite naturally adjusting posture as his own horse made a few steps put of boredom.

Everard shortened his reins and nudged the horse to start moving calmly. David's horse followed quite naturally.

"We will take the forest trail down so they don't have to struggle down the gravel slope." he explained, veering off of the original driveway and towards a pathway, into the treeline that bordered their property. For a minute or two they had to walk in line, but soon enough the forest trail widened and they could ride next to each other.

"When was the last time you were on a horse?" he asked, while simultaneously deciding his lover looked great on one. Like some Indian Prince about to greet a potential bride at 'the other palace'.

"I'll look forward to that." David teased in response, automatically adjusting to his horse's sudden movement as it followed Everard's.

"I think it has been close to eighty years." He admitted as he guided the horse around to walk next to Everard. "I tried polo for a short time."

It all seemed to be coming back to him quite easily, though he recalled being told somewhere along the way that confidence counted for a great deal when it came to horses. Still, it surprised him that these animals weren't simply spooked by them as others could often be.

He was certainly glad of it and for a moment, he was quiet, simply soaking it in. His body flowed naturally with the movement of the horse and he looked off into the forest and up into the trees.

"What on earth made you decide to do this?" He asked finally, turning again to Everard with a peaceful smile.

Fuck Mary Kill

Pandora, Armand, Bianca

//David won't answer this one so I'll have to do it for him. It'd have to be Fuck Pandora, Marry Bianca and Kill Armand. I think he sees Bianca as more the marrying type in comparison to Pandora? And he wouldn't want to kill any of them, but Armand still scares him a little bit, so...?

Have you asked?

I'm assuming you mean have I asked Everard about marriage? No, it is not a subject we have spoken about but we are happy as things currently stand and one day, I'm sure we will discuss it.

Your smile makes it all worth while.

I am... quite at a loss for words. That does please me, though I wouldn't have thought my happiness would be so important.

What was the darkest moment of your life?

While I do try to avoid viewing my life in this way, there have certainly been dark moments. Accepting my own mortality was one such occasion, as was my turning. I also experienced quite a dark period as a young man where I harbored a great deal of anger and frustration with the world. But all of these things are a part of my life experience and I simply wouldn't be the same person I am today without them. I cannot bring myself to be unhappy about them.

Do you believe in fate?

To some extent, I suppose I do. I believe we have a great deal of control over our futures with our choices and actions, but sometimes paths converge in ways that seem fateful. A great deal happened along my journey that lead me to the point I am now at. Sometimes it does seem like an awful lot of the events in my life lead me to Lestat and that my turning was inevitable. But I don't believe that our fates are all being decided by some supernatural force or entity.

What is the most fucked up thing you have ever read in the Talamasca files, that a vampire had done?

A few come to mind, some older, some far more recent.

The oldest perhaps is one whose veracity we could never quite prove; most of the details were vague and the records were fragmentary. But there was one who turned only very young children, babies, in fact and they seemed to pride themselves on finding the youngest subject possible. The infants never survived, of course and a group of villagers eventually found the one they deemed responsible and destroyed them. Of course, this could have been a simple case of applying supernatural causes to an outbreak of disease or an unusually high infant mortality rate over a number of years. There's no way to know for certain, but if it is true, it is certainly horrifying.

The other, we are certain about. Starting in the 1940's and continuing at least until the end of my tenure, one male took it upon himself to turn the most depraved people he could find. We believe he must have had some level of psychopathy himself, along with some powerful psychic abilities. That is a dangerous combination in a human, let alone the addition of our powerful blood. After his turning, he traveled the world, seeking out like-minded individuals, turning them and then encouraging them to do the same. It did make him very easy to track, but there was very little we could do to stop him.

How would you describe love?

This is quite an interesting question to ponder. The feeling of love is quite unlike anything else. Without it, humans and immortals alike are entirely without hope. And by that, I do not just mean romantic love, but familial and platonic love also. We can exist on the memory of love that we once had, though that is a sad and probably quite painful existence. But to have never had love is something I cannot quite imagine. I think it is quite closely linked with humanity, one cannot exist without the other.
