RBB & SBB for Dummies

This post is meant to be a concise, chronological explanation of the rainbow bears. It doesn’t go in depth on minute details, but rather shows HUGE clues and how the bears progressed to where they are now and why people link them to Louis and Harry

1. During the Where Are We Now tour (the one previous to the tour that just ended in Oct 2015) a rainbow build a bear teddy bear was thrown on stage by a fan at one of the shows.

2. Someone took the bear and kept it

3. It showed up a few days latter with electrical tape on it to make “bondage gear”

4. The bear then got its first twitter account that was literally advertised next to it during the show with a sign saying follow @bondagebear1d​

5. The first twitter pics were about the bear partying and shit, just random things

6. But then it made it’s first gay reference: Judy Garland

7. Judy Garland is a famous gay icon. In the 50s and 60s, saying that someone was a friend of Judy or a friend of Dorothy (wizard of oz/judy) was code for saying that you were gay.

8. A few days after the judy garland tweets (there were multiple) the twitter account got suspended. the bears didn’t appear for the rest of the tour.

9. The bears then reappeared during 1D’s last tour, the On the Road Again Tour

10. They started out with just wearing cute, funny outfits

11. Most people thought the band’s drummer, Josh Devine, was behind it because he’d been featured with the bears a few times. In these pics, the bear is dressed as Freddie Mercury. Remember these pics. They’re important later.

13. More cute bear things. Just funny.

14. And then, a second baby bear appears one day!

16. By this point, the fans had dubbed the big bear RBB (Rainbow Bondage Bear) and then subsequently called the little bear SBB (Sugar Baby Bear)

17. The bears are almost always together from that point on

18.  More cute things, very chill.

19. And then one day…. RBB decides to read a book.

20. More elaborate costumes

21. By this point people are getting kinda confused because damn this is a LOT of effort and money going into these tableaus and costumes. I’m not even including all the different outfits bc there’s so many and at this point not all of them are really relevant. But people are basically beginning to wonder how someone on a crew salary is affording to just do all this randomness? Again, no one in the band has ever acknowledged these bears even tho they’re literally right next to them or in front of them at every show….

22. The day this picture with the ice cream and McD fries is, at least in my opinion, the day that people really began to associate the bears with Larry. First off, the big bear (RBB) is holding ice cream. The night before Harry had been papped getting ice cream at Baskin Robins. The small bear (SBB) is eating McD fries. The night before, Louis had been papped at McD. Also, there’s a baby bottled featured and this was days after Louis “acknowledged” the baby for the first time….

23. Here, RBB is reading the biography of Bette Davis.

24. The bears again are featured with Judy Garland. Also, now is a good time to start paying  attention the blue and green. Harry’s mic always has green tape on it. Louis’ always has blue tape. Harry has green eyes. Louis has blue eyes. The bears almost always feature blue and green stickers from this point forward. Also, the crown that RBB is wearing always has the green   jewel facing forward…

So here, we have a pic of Princess Diana and Prince Charles, who suffered from rumors of unwanted pregnancies and secret relationships.

The pic on the left is of Luc Provost, a Montreal drag queen, author, singer and gay community personality.

26.  This is one of the big ones:

So the bears are in wedding garb. Holding hands. In front of a framed picture of a man named “Larry Grayson.” The picture is signed: Love, Larry

Later that night, about 15 minutes before the boys took the stage… the picture was removed.

Also, this happened on Sept. 24. There’s a theory (and it’s just a theory) that Louis and Harry got engaged or married on Sept 28, 2013 due to a series of tweets from their close friends on or before that day:

So. It’s just a very interesting coincidence that on 9/24/2015, four days before 9/28 which the boys KNOW people think is some sort of big deal (people trend it on twitter every year on 9/28) the bears are in wedding garb with a Love, Larry pic.

27.The book RBB is reading. About being in a band, feeling incredible amounts of media pressure, suffering from an eating disorder (there has been fan speculation an ED may have affected Louis in the past).

27. October 10, 2015, someone opened the new twitter @rbbsbbofficial. Josh Devine, the drummer from before, is the first person to follow it. He later denies he has anything to do with the bears. He’s the only person to have ever talked about the bears.  The twitter gets verified by someone posting pics of the bear in behind the scenes places.

31.  Then some crazy stuff really starts happening. The next big thing is the countdown started on October 20 on the twitter. The bears stop appearing at the shows. Also, on October 22nd One Direction cancelled their first show EVER, 30 mins after they were supposed to appear on stage. It was claimed that Liam got sick, but most people doubt this since all the members have performed sick on stage (including Niall with broke feet/knee, Harry while literally leaving the stage to puke and coming back.) That night, the Perfect music video drops out of nowhere. At 2 AM, Louis tweets about (and probably actually leaks) the song Home, which is not included on Made in the AM. The lyrics have been interpreted to be about realizing one’s sexuality and then finding someone who understands them as well.

32. The countdown:

33. The bears reappear that night.

RBB is wearing the soccer uniform of a team that both Harry and Louis root for and have worn the jersey of. Also those chairs spin and its awesome

Starting that night, the bears have security guards. Literal security guards.

Also, there are some pretty intense lights on the bears:

blue and green :)

34. This was posted on the twitter that night after the show. 

This damn CSI fandom figured out that that guy is Harry’s childhood friend (figured out via twitter pics) and they somehow figured out…within 30 minutes…which bar they were at via just one wall. 

35. Louis is then literally seen across the street from this damn bar. At a gay bar. In the gay district of Newcastle.

He spent about a half hour outside of the bar taking pics with as many fans as possible. Louis is NOT one to do this recently, but he made sure that everyone knew exactly where he was that night.

36. The next night RBB is reading about Joan Rivers,  gay icon. SBB has soccer gear with him. 

37. Earlier that day, RBB and SBB tweeted that they were outside the Newcastle soccer stadium, begging the hysterical question: how the hell has no one seen these bears in public….??

38. This picture is tweeted. Black and white, signed with initials and dated. Exactly how Harry makes all his instagram posts.

39. During the show, RBB and SBB have a certificate that says To RBB for being fabulous From SBB and the date

40. A fan throws a tiny rainbow bear on stage. Harry pics it up and puts it on his mic lmao.

41. October 30th, second to last day of tour, RBB appears with a fully functioning iPhone that has its number listed on top of it

Fans text and call the number all night long. It’s facing outwards so all the messages can be seen. The majority of them just saying “LARRY IS REAL!!!!”

42.  Tweeted from account. Nearly 12k messages in about 4 hours! Nice!

43.  The next night, 10/31, the bears are in Halloween costumes and the number is still there!

44. That night during the show, Louis and Harry not only HUG for the first time since early 2013, it’s one of the first times they TOUCH AT ALL OR EVEN ACKNOWLEDGE EACH OTHER. The fandom then implodes.

45. That night after the show, this is  tweeted (first not picture message):

45. From this point on, the bears appear on twitter every few days. They also change their location depending on where the bears are.

Blue and Green gems out!

46. Bears out in public again! How has no one seen them…? I mean it’s totally probable that Harry and Louis themselves don’t take them out i public, but how has no one seen just the BEARS with whoever takes them out! (be it HL’s sisters, their security guards, etc…)

47. Either they found a license plate that said RBB, had the bears with them and took this pic, they saw the plate, went home and got the bears and came back…or they made a vanity plate just for the purpose of this pic.

48. On November 15th, the twitter accounts likes this post:

The post gets unliked about a week later.

49. Next, the bears update their location to LA as the boys land in LA to do Late Night with Jimmy Kimmel! They go on a bit of spree and take pictures with a ton of LGBT related celeb’s stars on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, but only in the section that was shut down for the One Direction Street performance that night.

49. That night on Jimmy Kimmel, there’s this entire sketch where Kimmel asks 1D fans to follow an instagram account for “the 1d potato” and then basically makes fun of 1d fans for being stupid enough to have followed this account…when they were asked to? They majority of the interview is about how crazy their fans are and plays into the “all 1d fans are tweens” thing.  Fans are upset and angry and feel like they’re being made fun of unreasonably. Later that night, the bears tweet:

50. After winning at the AMA’s, they tweet

51. In Mexico they tweet,

People think they can see the reflection of someone (possibly Louis’ sister Lottie) holding SBB in the green vase.

52. On Nov 28, after weeks of no one mentioning the fake baby ordeal (which is a whole other post), rumors start floating that Louis was seen shopping for baby clothes with Briana, the supposed mother of his child. The fandom freaks out. The bear immediately posts this:

Lots of things here. Just random stuff, tbh. All the letters on the keyboard are blurred except those that spell out RAINBOW

The video being played is a song by drag queen Divine (who was featured many times in RBB concert pics) and is a song that contains the lyrics:

54. On Dec 3, RBB posts this picture…It’s RBB dressed as Freddie Mercury. And it’s not a new picture. It’s a picture from a show in South Africa and is from the same day as this photo with Josh was taken:

People are confused. 1D was scheduled to record carpool karaoke with James Corden later that night, so they thought made they’d be performing a Queen song?

But no. A few hours later, an interview with EW and Josh Devine, the drummer above, was published in which Josh denies that the band has anything to do with the bear (or that he has anything to do with it either.) He essentially says that the bears are just funny and that fans read too much into it all.

Also, the day before, the boys were asked about RBB for the first time ever.

Everyone immediately looks at Louis. Niall’s head literally snaps towards him. They all stumble and fumble and Louis leaves everyone to freaking drown. Harry finally says that “HE BELIEVES…HE BLESRIBEESSS. HE THINKS AND BELIEVES…THAT IT IS THE CREW….THAT…THAT TAPED IT TO THE SCAFFOLDING…HE BELIEVES THAT.” Liam says  that never even knew the bear existed.

55. And as of today, Nov, 8 2015, this is the latest thing that RBB has done:location update: Home, soon to return…!!Harry left LA and arrived in London. the location update changed immediately. Louis stayed in LA and only left yesterday night. The second he got home, he tweeted

So yeah. Harry was home, Louis was soon to be home. Louis tweets out that he’s home, using the same emoji that he used when he leaked the song Home which has now been linked many times to him and Harry. Also, he never tweets when he leaves or arrives places. So. extra interesting :)

And this is one final thing that I forgot to put in and I don’t wanna mess up my number system so I’ll just add it here.

We caught Louis’ reflection in the glasses of RBB and since then, they’ve blurred out all reflective surfaces.

On Oct 25, RBB change his header to the picture of RBB wearing his glasses. Below is a zoomed in shot of his glasses. Louis wears that vans t-shirt ALL THE TIME.

Once fans realized it, the picture was taken down and since then all things shiny are blurred :)

So there you have it! The Rainbow Bears explained! Let me know if there’s any glaring errors! This post will be updated as the bears continue :)

If you’re an adult, do the stuff you couldn’t as a kid.

Like, me and my sister went to a museum, and they had an extra exhibit of butterflies. But it cost £3. So we sighed, walked past, then stopped. We each had £3. We could see the butterflies. And we did it was great. We followed it up with an ice-cream as well because Mum and Dad weren’t there to say no.

I was driving back from a work trip with 2 other people in their early 20s, and we drove past a MacDonalds. One of the others went “Aww man, I’d love a McFlurry.” And the guy driving pulled in to the drive through. It was wild. But it was great.

I went to a park over the weekend and I was thinking “Man, I’d love to hire one of those bikes and cycle round the park.” It took me a few minutes to go “Wait, I can hire one of those bikes!”

I guess what I’m saying is, those impulsive things you wanted to do as a kid - see the dinosaur exhibit, play in the fountains with the other kids, lie in the shade for 2 hours - you can do when you’re an adult. You have to deal with a whole lot of other bull, but at least you can indulge your inner 8 year-old.
