A woman is sleeping. She dreams.
BANG. BANG. BANG.
Chaos ensues.
BLAST. BLAST. BLAST.
The wrong house.
BOOM. BOOM. BOOM.
Confusion in the air. Three police officers outside. No-knock search warrant. Boyfriend inside. Thought it was an intruder. The woman, sleeping, was in the cross-hairs of something awful happening.
SHOT. SHOT. SHOT.
Bullets are flying in every direction.
BANG. BANG. BANG.
Drug bust gone wrong.
DEAD.
One hundred sixty days later, there are still no arrests.
DEAD.
She was 26 years old.
DEAD.
She was a healthcare worker.
DEAD.
She was black.
DEAD.
She was sleeping.
DEAD.
Her name was Breonna Taylor, and she is DEAD. She has been DEAD for 160 days - and there are still no arrests. It was three police officers that killed her. ‘To serve and protect,’ but not for Breonna Taylor, who is DEAD.

Not much focus on rehabilitation
This seems like a good time to mention the Prisoners Literature Project and Inside Books Project. Both of these organizations send free books to incarcerated people, and are always looking for donations - both books and money -and volunteers! (Prisoners literature project sends books everywhere but Texas - Inside Books project is just Texas).

Alabama’s most conservative Republican Senator Tommy Tuberville offered up a ridiculous amendment to remove federal funding from any city or county that voted to defund the police. Every single Democrat in the room joined every single Republican in the room to declare that they have zero support for defunding the police.
In a 99-0 vote, the entire senate voted to penalize and revoke funding from any city that supports defunding the police. Even Bernie and Raphael Warnock voted with the 99-0 group.
Police don't make cities safer. Jobs, housing, healthcare, education, mental health services, social services, and so much more are what makes a city safe. And smart cities all over the country have already come to this realization and have decided that police budgets are outrageously bloated.
The entire United States Senate, including all of your favorite Democrats, just said "fuck you" to the Black Lives Matter Movement
This is a clear message that emboldens Racist Police to continue to terrorize Black communities .... and supports the exploitation of Black bodies as fuel for our injustice system.
