Well, I finally finished the whole M9 in Art/Pastiche series.  I thought you might be interested in seeing the side to side with some of my inspirations. A quick rundown-

Caleb- Van Gogh Beau- Roy Lichtenstein Molly- Byzantine Mosaics Jester- Klimt Matt- Hans Holbein Yasha- 15th Century Illuminated Manuscripts/Gerard Horenbout Fjord- Adventure Pulp Covers Nott- Playing Card Design Caduceus- Mucha

In case anyone was curious- Caleb was the easiest, Jester was the hardest, I’m most pleased with Matt, I’m least pleased with Nott, and Molly took the longest.

Thanks for all your interest!  Please feel free to shoot me any questions or comments or suggestions or cheesy jokes anytime you feel like it.

Always super impressed by this person. That’s one reason why I married her.

DINOSAURS OVER THE YEARS

This is a series of posters I made to show how our perception of Dinosaurs and other animals of the mesozoic changed over the years. These and few more are featured in a Youtube video you can watch HERE

this art is available for prints, t-shirts and other goods HERE

Realizing it’s been long enough since I was a kid into dinosaurs to be part of the history of dinosaurs.

My favorite photos from the protest. So many brilliant teens who were SO WELL ORGANIZED. My favorite moment was a 16 year old standing in front of a stack of cases of water shouting “PLEASE DRINK WATER.”

I had planned on doing Inktober this year, but my October had other plans. But I’ve got some sketches of my aborted Discworld Inktober floating about, and my long plane ride today provided me with the time and focus to finish Angua and Granny Weatherwax (with You). More coming, as I’m on a large vacation for the next few weeks.

Lingua Franca

Sometimes called glossolalia arcana or “speak in tongues”, Lingua Franca was originally mis-identified as a hex to force the victim to speak in another language they knew - in that first case, believed to be French - before it’s correct identification as a magically mutative disease. Passed on by way of saliva, it infects the salivary glands and can take time to manifest fully while being contagious early on, making it hard to register all vectors of infection from it’s originating source. Even in early stages it can cause mild glossolalia (or speaking in tongues), hence the name, but as infection progresses it can cause dangerous mutation of the mouth, teeth and jaw - and even the throat, sinuses and nasal cavity - as well as sometimes causing tongue-splitting or multiple jaws or mandibles, often without it’s upper or lower counterpart.

At present Lingua Franca is believed to be caused either by a magical virus, or a magical spell-turned-disease (which is much harder to pin down as an entity, as it is instead a wild kind of magic existing under it’s own power, rather like an Obscurus), however it does seem to exhibit some traits more in line with a bacterial colony. Due to this difficulty in identification of the cause, Lingua Franca is presently treated with a number of anti-viral, anti-bacterial and purification potions and some very uncomfortable human Transfigurations back to the original form once the disease has been eradicated. Unfortunately the disease remains prevalent in areas where Healing is either much more diffuse or much less easily available, and so remains a problem around the world, even as some countries are close to total eradication of the disease.

(Image is from the fantastic @agarthanguide, who did fanart of this blog a while ago and does take commissions! Read about their commission rates Here. Idea for this disease was partially inspired by This Song. I hate that I have to include this but PLEASE DO NOT DELETE THE CAPTION OR THE IMAGE SOURCE.)

Type and Tonic

I saw some early versions of this bottle label back in 2015, in alternate colours. It was obvious then that this was going to be something special.

Designed by Tom Lane a.k.a Ginger Monkey, for the Bohemian Beverage Company, Gypsy Tonic’ is a health food drink, despite looking like the most fabulous alcoholic spirit.

Tom, based in Liverpool, UK, drew inspiration from the look and feel of the 1800’s Apothecary scene. The product and finally hit the shelves this year and the design was awarded a certificate of typographic excellence by the @typedirectorsclub
