@SaraSoueidan: Dear men, This is how you greet a veiled Muslim woman (a Hijabi). Hand on your chest, not offering to shake hers. 🙋

so prominent BLM activist deray mckesson just retweeted this which i think is super cool for various reasons :)))

I did not know this. Is it OK for a non Muslim woman to shake hands with a Hijabi? Or do we do the hand on chest thing too?@popcanpoli

hey so i don’t wear a hijab and i’m not muslim so i definitely don’t have the authority to answer this question (or any other questions i’ve been getting abt this) (i’m just a lil canadian politics blog i didn’t expect this to blow up lol)

BUT here are some tweets by the original tweeter (who wears a hijab) that clarify some things

To add to the above useful information: some practicing Muslim men similarily prefer not to shake hands with women. In such a case, you may do the hand on chest thing, or you can simply keep your hands down and nod politely.

But as the last comment says, when you’re in a new cultural situation, it’s always an excellent idea to wait and follow the cues of the person you’re meeting! Respect is all about paying attention to each individual.

And Superman, all the DC Comics, and I’m not just saying that because I’m doing Suicide Squad. I just was in love. I just thought to myself because I was bullied growing up, I said, ’If I could be Wonder Woman I could take care of all the bullies, and I could be cute doing it.’

Katana and I may not have the same personality, but coming from the same cultural upbringing, we share core values. In Japanese culture there’s this idea of putting others before yourself, but I’ve also never wanted to let myself down. Someone recently told me how refreshing it is to see an Asian woman as a superhero. That stuck with me. Stand up for yourself and what you love.

MY NIGHTINGALE COSPLAY IS FINISHED.

It is indeed not 100% the same as it is seen in-game. I tried building the boots to look similar, but it just wasn’t working. It’s also modified so I can be a little more comfortable while wearing it.

This is my most complicated cosplay yet, and I have to say I’m really happy with how it turned out. :) My fiance is making me a sword. It is almost finished.

Bring it on, Dragoncon.

(The camera on my phone is pretty bad. I apologize for the quality.)
