//Medical Log

That awkward moment where I started unfollowing people cause I thought I was logged in on my other blog. Oops. Refollowed them though, so no big deal! :D

For those wondering: I pretty much disappeared recently because I was preparing to come back to uni, and then Saturday I moved into my dorm and classes started yesterday. Yay syllabus day! Today was technically syllabus day part two -- except the one class I didn't have yesterday (yay for discussion sessions on T/TH!) wasn't your typical syllabus day. It was fun. :3

Anyways, yeah, I'm doing well -- the biggest hiccup has been scrambling to get an iClicker 2 but I ordered it today and worked something out with my professor -- and so far, so good. Can't wait for next week cause taekwondo starts up again. :3

I'll try and do some RPing when I get a chance, but the first couple of weeks are going to be insane and it may be limited to my few days off during the semester. I'll let you guys know when I know more!

Confession: I'd actually be terrified of Bones in real life to be honest.

//Really??? You shouldn't hun, Bones is a big ole ball of mush. The character, male as in canon or my gender!bent version, cares so much about people. Anything harsh that comes out of his/her mouth is because they care so much. Bones is one person who would always have your back no matter what.

Just look at how Bones takes care of Spock despite their arguments and such.

//Medical Log

Sitting here listening to random music (trying to get into a band yo) and still fawning over the fact that my keyboard is now a rainbow.

I shit you not, it is a rainbow how freakin' cool is that?!

The only thing that would make this better is if my keyboard had all sorts of cutesie things on it.

love cutesie things dammit. America why you no have the cutesie things i desire?! *rage face meme*

Anyway, yeah, my keyboard now looks (more or less) like this.

That's right. Be jelly.

The creature seemed to focus on pronouncing one word. "H... h-ha... heh... hel... helf... Help."

Everyone froze, gazes locked on the creature in various stages of surprise. Spock was the first to find his voice and tried to clarify what the creature wanted, but it seemed to ignore him. This one, too, seemed only to focus on Bones. It was rather disconcerting and she really didn't like it, however, she took a deep breath and repeated Spock's question.

This creature was not nearly as skilled as the other one and a slur of mumbled words poured from their mouth. Words that were English in origin, just gibberish as they sorted out how to talk through the crewmember.

Bones nodded encouragingly and motioned for the other two to be patient -- not that they weren't, but she didn't need anything making the creature panic and shut down.

Spock asked Sulu to check, but he replied back that he could not tell from their current position. The creature seemed to be getting more frantic. The body of the crewman was starting to return back to it's human look and the creature was losing contact. "H-home... oth... other..s."

Uhura finally arrived then, but it was too late, the crewman had already reverted to himself. Without a word, Bones just grabbed the Lieutenant and dragged her to the next room where another of them was. She briefly explained what was going on and what Uhura's purpose was, then opened the door and ushered her in. Spock followed closely behind and Bones entered last. The first thing she did, was ask what the "others" were and what that had to do with "home."

The creature kept repeating the word, even after the doctor had explained they were safe. It started alternating between the two words. "Others. Home. Others. Home."

Bones paused, hyper aware of the fact that Spock was now staring at them, and thought. After a moment she finally asked whether there was danger or something else waiting for them on the planet. Were they flying into a trap?

The creature answered that it was the "species". It seemed to be able to find the words more easily now as it used the brain of the crewman to translate."Others? Others?" //in that case, I'm probably royally screwing up how language works xD That work sounds awesome though

Bones nodded and wanted to ask for its name. She felt bad referring to it as "it" and using the crewman's name didn't seem right. However, as she was about to, the creature seemed to become slightly frantic as it repeated the word. She tried to calm it down, assuring it that the others were safe and being taken care of. She left out the part about how it was only because they initially thought the crew was sick and had been searching for a cure.

//Hahaha, not at all. And I've only taken an introductory course so far, don't worry. It's interesting, that's for sure. But no, you're not screwing it up. XD

The response was heavily delayed as the creature tried to search the brain for some way too answer in English, but instead it settled on the gibberish sounds again. The same several gibberish sounds repeated over and over actually.

Rather than push it more, Bones simply tried to repeat the sounds as best possible before asking if this was its species, or its name. She looked over at Spock and suggested they bring in Uhura. She may be able to understand this creature or perhaps give them an idea of a language family so they can get a better grasp of what they're dealing with.

The creature answered with the name of the crewman that had been infected. It repeated the name of the planet as Spock spoke to the bridge, letting him hear it again so he would say it correctly. Sulu informed the two that that was the planet they were approaching, which explained why this"disease" had happened recently.

Bones ignored everyone else and simply shook her head at the creature. This was fascinating in its own right, but what she really wanted was to get them as much information as possible. She indicated that she wasn't referring to the person in front of her, but who it was she was speaking to. She wanted to know who it was, what it was, and why they needed to get home so desperately, but it would have to be one thing at a time.

The creature gave the name of some unknown planet, and had called her "Doctor" again. It seemed to understand her, but communication was clearly not something it had mastered yet.

Spock moved quickly, pulling out his comm and ordering someone on the Bridge to find the location of this planet. In the mean time, Bones continued trying to speak to this thing. It seemed to respond better to her than it did to Spock and she tried not to dwell on that fact too much. She spoke to it like a child, trying to make it understand clearly so it could learn in the process. She nodded and pointed to herself, confirming that she was, in fact, "doctor" and told him she was called "McCoy." When she pointed to the creature, she asked what he was, what he was called, and made sure to look confused.

The creature didn't speak when Spock introduced his title and asked what it wanted. It fixated it's gaze on McCoy and said the first words it had managed. "Home. Doctor. Home." Spock continued asking it what it intended and why it was taking over the crew, but it only seemed to want to answer "Take us home."

Bones was extremely creeped out by the way the thing looked at her. It didn't blink, it sat too still, and it just...stared. No emotion was on its face, no real indication that it was alive save for the few words it spoke and the very shallow movements of its chest when it breathed. Spock seemed to be making no progress, and the conversation only went in circles. Finally, when she couldn't take the repetition anymore, the doctor spoke up. She carefully asked it why it was staring at her, and where "home" is. The way this thing was acting made it clear that it was only using the crew as a means of communication. Whether that meant they were vessels or something else, she didn't know. None of the scans had shown conclusive information one way or the other.

Spock had come down and waited outside the medbay for a protective uniform. Once in, he went to the room with the creature, asking if McCoy wished to be there or if she thought he would be allowed to touch it in any way.

Once Spock was inside of the 'bay, Bones lead him to the back room. She decided to remain present in case something happened and she was needed. They knew little to nothing about these things and there was nothing to say it wouldn't lash out at him in some way.

One of the nurses informed the doctor that the first creature thing was managing to communicate relatively well, but only seemed to say the same few sentences. The other creatures were repeating the same words, not necessarily in the same order the first one had though.

Bones nodded and headed to the comm once again. She relayed the information to Spock and was surprised that he volunteered to come speak to it himself. She had no real reason to deny him the privilege, and so she granted him permission and ended the link.

Several more patients showed up from the quarantine message. The nurse rushed the... thing out of the room just as it started to make out another word. "Doctor."

Suppressing a shutter at the creature's voice, Bones quickly made her way to the new arrivals and directed them to various free spaces. With the assurance that someone would see them quickly, each person made their way to their spots. It wasn't long before more of the earlier arrivals began showing the same bizarre changes as the first man, and each was taken out of sight.

One of the nurses have a shout to McCoy over by their patient, one of the first ones to contact the symptoms. Somehow the disease was transforming him into something, but what it was couldn't be determined. The only thing it was was not human. And it was only repeating one word. "Home."

One look at the guy and Bones felt her stomach drop. She told the nurse to take the patient somewhere the others wouldn't see him and to keep him under observation. She didn't want to scare anybody, but if he became coherent enough to speak, perhaps someone could get some information out of him.
