re your last post. same. i ended up leaving the industry and while I'll always love my time as an SM and part of me will always be an SM, it was time to go

Agreed, although looking back I wonder if I was just done with that production rather than all of theatre. I still haven't had the urge to return, and I don't see as many shows anymore. Maybe distance and time will change my mind? For the moment I'm happy, although I clearly need a hobby.

Leaving was the best choice, but working in theatre let me cling to a sense of purpose that I never realized wasn't my own for a long time. I still miss that clarity.

For me, I didn't fully and deeply realize how my job affected every other aspect of my life until I didn't have it anymore. I always had friends around because they were my coworkers; I always had plans because there was always a show I wanted to see; I always had a support system because we were all literally in the same boat. Now that I've stepped back and moved about 40 minutes away from where I primarily worked, that's all gone. I'm having to reconfigure my friend groups, hobbies (or lack thereof), and support system from scratch.

But the tradeoff of better mental health and work/life balance feels 80-99% worth it most days? And I don't have to push myself so hard to give 110% when I'm running on fumes.

I wish I could have had both.

Hi folks. Remember me, your old pal cinemas- who hasn’t posed in four years? I have a new film blog here that I’d love for you to give a follow. I think I’m gonna have some fun over there, and I’d love it for you to join me.

Also in the time since I’ve last posted I think it’s important to note that I have met Armie Hammer and almost blacked out. 10/10, would recommend.

Okay, click that follow button and be well.

“My mom used to always say, ‘You paint the picture and it will happen.’ I believe that if you close your eyes and see yourself up on that stage, being bigger than life, you become that person with that big, really good attitude. You’re gonna be that rock ‘n’ roll woman that’s gonna make people happy…”
