Hey Taylor! My names Payton and I’m 14 years old. I have been listening to your music since I was 6 years old. I have been a very competitive softball player since I was 9. In May 2013, my life got flipped upside down. When I was playing softball, I slid into third base and broke my ankle. This wasn’t just a normal break, this was major. I broke one of my bones into 3 pieces and split my growth plate in half. Because of this, I needed to get a surgery to have 3 screws and a washer in my ankle. It was extremely painful, but your music helped me through it. A few weeks later I went to get a check up done to see if I could get my cast off and get into a walking boot. When the doctors took off my cast they discovered that my incision opened back up and it was infected. They rushed me to the hospital for an emergency surgery because it was so infected. I was terrified because if the infection got down to my bone, I would need my foot amputated. I wore my Taylor Swift shirt to the hospital for good luck. I guess the power of Swift worked because the infection didn’t go down to the bone! The doctors cleaned it out and figured out that I was allergic to the stitches and the medicine they used to prep my leg with. In November 2014, I went in for my last surgery to get my screws out. After 3 surgeries, 17 weeks in crutches, and 20 weeks in a boot/ cast I am finally a year recovered! You are the reason I was so strong through all of this. I listened to your music before I went in for surgeries and that calmed me down. Thank you for being my role model and for always being there for me❤️ I will continue to love and support you and I hope one day we can meet and I can thank you in person. Sending you lots of love, Payton xoxo PS: sorry I look so crazy in these pictures, I was jacked up on a bunch of meds haha :)
