Now that the holidays are behind us, we usher in… more silver and gold—in the form of culture, health and beauty, fashion, design, and food and nightlife. DC’s very best are showcased in our extensive guide to what you should be experiencing right now in the District of Chic. Plus, for the first time, we asked our readers to weigh in on their favorites in the aforementioned categories. Were there surprises? We’ll let you turn the pages to find out, but let’s just say we were impressed with your selections; impeccable taste is everywhere in this town. So, hello, 2015—we can’t wait to use 365 days and nights to explore!

Thanks to readers of DC magazine for voting us one of the best galleries in the city!

Green Porno, Live on Stage

Saturday, November 8, 2014 - 8:00pm

Tickets on sale 8/12 at Noon

Imagine the art of seduction on an arthropodan or elephantine scale. Such is the orgasmic, orgiastic and occasionally acrobatic bent of internationally acclaimed actress Isabella Rossellini’s vibrant invasion of zoological boudoirs, based on her short Green Porno films for the Sundance Channel. A lifelong lover of animals, Isabella Rossellini dons costume versions of their fur, skins, scales and wings for this delightfully insightful, Day-Glo examination of the quirks, curiosities and frequently fatal risks of sexuality and reproduction across a spectrum of species.

Have you seen Isabella Rossellini's #GreenPorno on the internet or the Sundance Channel? She's just turned it into a one-woman play, which premiered at Printemps des Comédiens 2013, in Montpellier. The live show will have its DC premiere here at Lisner on November, 8 2014. Tickets will go on sale 8/12.

Boban & Marko Markovic Orchestra

"Imagine thirteen, shining brass instruments blasting away, lead by a trumpet as rapturous as it is melancholic. Imagine the Balkanic fusion of the love of life with its inescapable sadness. Imagine Boban Markovic, judged 'best trumpet on Earth' at the legendary Guca festival in central Serbia, playing live in Belgrade. Now stop imagining – this is the real thing."

Boban & Marko Markovic Orchestra will perform here at Lisner on October 3rd. Tickets are on sale now at lisner.org.
